Evan looked at Dumbledore, surprised, wondering what he meant.
Why did he ask Mr. Ollivander to check their wands? And looking at Mr. Ollivander's expression, he didn't seem surprised or caught off guard. Obviously, he already knew beforehand, and Dumbledore had told him.
Perhaps Dumbledore asked Mr. Ollivander to inspect everyone's wands for a specific reason.
Evan had some doubts, but upon careful consideration, this was not a bad thing.
With a nod from Evan, Colin glanced at him. He looked back at Dumbledore. Hesitated, then approached to hand his wand to Mr. Ollivander.
"This wand is well maintained, Mr. Creevey!" Mr. Ollivander said, looking a bit excited. "Twelve inches long... made of sandalwood... the core is unicorn hair, which is the quintessential material of a common wand. Although it lacks distinctive features, the magic of a wand crafted with unicorn hair tends to be stable, with few fluctuations and blocks. This wand fits you very well, which is the rarest and most valuable. The wand made with unicorn hair is the most loyal of all, and no matter what happens, it can maintain a strong connection with the original owner."
He examined Colin's wand carefully, imparting some wand maintenance knowledge. He pronounced it in good condition, then it was Gabrielle's turn.
Gabrielle's wand was shorter than Fleur's, only eight inches long. The wand core was her grandmother's hair.
"Hawthorn... very smooth texture!" Mr. Ollivander said, carefully examining Gabrielle's wand. "Indeed, I have never seen such a smooth wand. The combination of such a soft material and the sensitive hair of a Veela makes this wand extremely responsive to magical changes. Common witches cannot wield it."
The wands of Fleur and Gabrielle should be the most loyal; the wand cores were their grandmother's hair. It was unique, yet at the same time, had blood ties to both of them. These two wands would hardly be taken by other wizards.
As for Hermione's wand, it was fourteen inches long, made of vine wood, and the wand core was dragon heartstring.
"Yes, Miss Granger, I still remember this wand!" Mr. Ollivander said, and golden stars appeared at the wand's end. "The dragon is a magical creature with great power, and the material in it is very rare, especially the dragon heartstring. It is harder to obtain, much more so than unicorn hair. Correspondingly, its power is much stronger. If the owner has enough power, they can display the most beautiful and brilliant magic through this wand."
When the golden stars finally disappeared, he returned the wand to Hermione, his pale eyes fixed on it.
"Dragon heartstring is the most volatile in case of an accident. This wand tends to favor dark magic, although this tendency does not necessarily align with its core." He whispered about the wand, "Miss Granger, do not let anyone take it. Otherwise, it will change its loyalty and steadfastly submit to its new owner."
Hermione raised her eyebrows, not understanding what Mr. Ollivander meant.
Why did he say that? Was there an implication in it?
"Wandlore is one of the most complex and mysterious branches of all magic. I am merely elucidating the mystery that has been explored!" Seeing Hermione's doubts, Mr. Ollivander explained, "If you are interested in this aspect, you can seek relevant information. Well, the next one is Mr. Potter!"
Harry approached and handed over his wand.
"Ah, yes!" Mr. Ollivander said, his pale eyes suddenly gleaming with excitement. "Yes, yes. How well I remember."
Everyone in the room looked at him in surprise. They did not understand what Mr. Ollivander meant.
Only Harry knew. He could also remember it as if it had happened yesterday.
Three summers ago, on his eleventh birthday, he had entered Mr. Ollivander's shop with Hagrid to purchase a wand.
Mr. Ollivander had taken his measurements and then began giving him wands to try.
Harry had waved what seemed like every wand in the shop until he finally found the one that suited him.
His wand was made of holly, eleven inches long, and contained a single phoenix tail feather.
Mr. Ollivander had been greatly surprised by Harry's remarkable compatibility with his wand.
"Curious," he said, "Curious," and it was not until Harry inquired about the curiosity that Mr. Ollivander explained that the phoenix feather in Harry's wand came from the same bird that had supplied Lord Voldemort's wand core.
Harry had never shared this information with anyone. He was deeply attached to his wand, and in his view, his connection to Voldemort's wand was something he could not shake off, much like his connection to Aunt Petunia.
However, he truly hoped that Mr. Ollivander was not about to disclose it to the room.
He had the peculiar sensation that Rita Skeeter's Quick-Quotes Quill might burst with excitement if she did so.
Particularly, his scar had been aching repeatedly lately, and he was dreaming of Voldemort-related things, which made him feel uneasy.
In this instance, Harry did not wish for his wand to be linked to Voldemort.
"The phoenix feather is the most precious wand core material. Among potential owners, the phoenix feather wand is always the most demanding. It is the most independent and transcendent creation in the world. This wand is the most resistant to being tamed and personalized, and it is generally challenging to gain its loyalty," Mr. Ollivander said slowly and softly, "But there is no question that a wand made of a phoenix feather can perform the most outstanding magic, though it may take longer to showcase this than dragon heartstrings and unicorn hairs. This wand is truly special and holds a unique significance. Use it wisely, Mr. Potter, it will aid you!"
Mr. Ollivander spent much more time examining Harry's wand than others' wands. He scrutinized it repeatedly before returning it to Harry.
"The last one... Mr. Mason!" he whispered, turning his gaze to Evan.
Evan stepped forward and saw Mr. Ollivander before him. He felt as though he had been transported back to the scene of the dazzling small shop.
Two years ago, he had entered with Mrs. Weasley and Ginny.
When he held the wand, its tip suddenly emitted a white halo, rippling through the shop.
And Mr. Ollivander uttered those mysteriously chilling words.
"Wonderful, truly wonderful!" Mr. Ollivander took Evan's wand, his eyes sparkling. He spoke softly, "Though each wand is unique, this one is exceptionally special. It was crafted by my great-grandfather, who was once the most renowned wandmaker in the world."
