In a sudden turn of events, Evan was specifically barred from participating in the Triwizard Tournament by two magic schools.
This was the second incident after the fake Moody's name could not be seen on the Marauder's Map tonight.
It was too sudden, but it seemed reasonable.
Evan's previous appearance in the World Cup was too conspicuous. Whether his duel with Caresius or the magical transformation of the main stadium building into a giant, it was beyond the imagination of most wizards.
His reputation had spread throughout the European magical world and was still growing abroad.
Whatever the notion, Evan's power had been acknowledged by the public, with some even claiming he was Dumbledore's successor.
Especially considering his age, the sky was the limit for Evan's future. This was good news for Hogwarts and the British magical community but bad for other countries and forces.
At that moment, if Evan became Hogwarts' champion to participate in the Triwizard Tournament, the champions of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang would have no chance. They couldn't defeat Evan, no matter what.
The so-called "Triwizard Tournament" would simply become a stage for Evan to showcase his power.
Beauxbatons and Durmstrang did not want this to happen. They mentioned Evan by name to exclude him from the competition. And they had a valid reason. Evan was younger than 17 and did not meet the requirement. In fact, he was only 13 now.
This age limit was originally intended to protect young wizards lacking strength and prevent them from losing their lives in vain.
Now it was used to exclude Evan from the competition, and there was nothing wrong with that. Hogwarts and the British Ministry of Magic could not refute it.
Because the competition would be held at Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang would hold primary elections for eligible students by age and bring them to Hogwarts. Dumbledore, on the other hand, would be responsible for restricting wizards under 17.
Evan knew what magic he would use and had a way to break the spell.
Dumbledore naturally knew this, so he needed Evan's assurance that he would never enter the competition.
In fact, Evan was not interested in this so-called Triwizard Tournament. But if he did not participate in the competition, how could he enter with Harry without attracting Voldemort's attention?
No, in the end, he had to enter that maze and touch the trophy with Harry... or think of a better way to end Voldemort, who would have successfully regained his strength.
Looking into Dumbledore's bright blue eyes, Evan nodded slowly.
Dumbledore should have already guessed Voldemort's plan. What plan did he have to face him?!
Dumbledore seemed reluctant to keep talking about this, perhaps because of the presence of the fake Moody or because he had his own considerations.
Seeing that Evan had accepted, he asked him to return to bed as soon as possible.
After leaving the Great Hall, Evan walked alone down the dimly lit corridor, mulling it over in his head.
"It's not fair. They can't exclude wizards from competing based on their strength. Those weak cowards play with these means!" Moody's rough voice echoed behind Evan, and he followed him out of the auditorium. "It has always been like this, they..."
"Professor, rules must be respected!" Evan turned to Moody and said with mild surprise, "Actually, I am not seventeen, and of course I should not break the rules and compete. Dumbledore doesn't want that to happen either."
"Hmm, students taught by Dumbledore, you are too idealistic. Those people don't think like you." Moody said disdainfully, "I have seen too many Dark wizards. If you have such naive ideas..."
"Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are not Dark wizards!"
"Never judge easily by appearances. You don't know anything about their past. Stay always vigilant!" Moody's magical eye spun. Looking at Evan, with a hint of a spell in his voice, he said, "Boy, be honest, do you want to compete or not?!"
Evan looked at Moody, and a strange thought arose in his heart.
This fake Moody was truly abnormal. Why would he approach him to say this?
Looking at it, it seemed to be enticing him to participate secretly in the Triwizard Tournament.
But why would he do this? What benefit would Voldemort gain from it?
Was the fake Moody trying to remove both of them from the school?
Or was it that Voldemort had not yet given up on the Philosopher's Stone?
"No matter if I want to participate or not. I have already promised the Headmaster and I must fulfill it," Evan said softly. "Professor, you are not encouraging me to participate in the competition secretly, are you?"
Moody's figure was completely concealed in the darkness that the torches could not dispel, and Evan could not see the expression on his face.
After a long time, he said hoarsely, "Of course not. I just came to evaluate you. Dumbledore spoke highly of you. Now I believe you will not disappoint. A competent wizard must have his own limits."
Evan did not respond, and a silence fell between the two.
If it had really been Mad-Eye Moody who had said it, Evan could believe it, but knowing that the man in front of him was fake...!
They walked again down the dark corridor, and Moody's office was on the second floor.
Next to the fake Moody, Evan felt the looming threat.
"I received a letter from Lupin and Black a few days ago. They informed me about the current progress of the Defense Against the Dark Arts course," Moody suddenly said. "It seems you have learned to deal with dark magical creatures and have mastered many basic skills."
"Yes, professors Lupin and Sirius taught us a lot."
"Very well, but it is not enough, not enough!" Moody said, limping forward. "I think you need to learn to deal with dark magic. I will show you some of the spells cast between wizards."
"Dark magic?" Evan turned to look at him.
"You must know that enchantments come in many forms and their magic varies. According to the Ministry of Magic, I should teach all sorts of spell breakers, that's all," Moody said. "According to them, you are not yet in sixth year. The School should not show you what illegal dark magic spells look like because you are still very young and wouldn't handle it. But in my opinion, the sooner you know how to deal with it, the better. How can you protect yourself from something you have never seen before? When a wizard is about to use an illegal spell, he won't tell you what he's going to do; he won't recite his spell in a frank, fair, and polite manner. Simply..."
"Professor, are you saying you will teach us the Unforgivable Curses?"
"Not teach them, just demonstrate to you what real dark magic is," Moody said. "I'm sure you will enjoy this course..."
