Chapter 33: Baby Shower

Mia's POV

*Two Weeks Later*

I gripped the metal frame of my car as I hoisted myself out of the seat.

"Oh my god," I groaned out loud as my weight shifted to my feet. I placed my hand on my back as I waddled up to Andy's front door. I knocked, already tired of standing.

"Hey!" Andy greeted, hugging me.

"Hi," I mumbled, walking through the front door.

"You good?" he asked. I shot him a glare and he held his hands up in surrender. "My bad, stupid question," he chuckled nervously.

"Let me strap a bowling ball to you and see how you feel," I snapped.

"You're right, you're right, I'm sorry," he said as we walked into his living room. I collapsed on the couch, throwing my head back.

"I'm so done with being pregnant!" I complained, draping my hand over my face.

"It's almost over."

"Two months is too long. I can barely move, my energy is gone, my back always hurts. I'm never doing this again," I complained.

"Well you just sit and rest. My mom almost has everything set up," Andy said. I nodded and attempted to take a deep breath, despite my lungs being compressed by the rest of my organs.

"Mia! Is that you?" Andy's mom called from the kitchen. I turned my head to see her coming out of the kitchen.

"Hi! I would get up but it would take an hour," I laughed.

"Non-sense! You don't need to move a muscle! Everything is being taken care of. You look gorgeous, by the way!"

"Thank you," I said, even though I felt like a whale.

I was wearing a long pink dress with off the shoulder sleeves, ending at my wrists. The dress had a slit, going up to my mid thigh. Overall the dress was fairly simple. I wanted something loose, comfortable, and cheap.

I sat on the couch, trying to prepare myself for hours of social interaction. All I wanted to do lately was lay in bed and scroll on my phone. I was starting maternity leave in May and I was so ready to stop going to work.

My parents and siblings were the next to arrive. I couldn't be bothered to lift myself off of the couch to greet them.

"Hi!" Blaire exclaimed as she ran in, sitting on the couch next to me and hugging me.

"Hi," I said, trying to force a smile.

"You ready?" she laughed, placing her hand on my bump.

"More than I've ever been for anything else."
