Chapter 62: Wedding Dress Shopping
Mia's POV
*Two Months Later*
"Hello? Do you have an appointment?" a cheery woman standing just inside the door at a podium asked as I walked in to the dress shop.
"Yeah, for Mia," I said.
"Awesome, go take a look around and your stylist will be with you," she said, writing something down on the paper in front of her.
I was going shopping for my wedding dress today and I was hoping today was finally the day I found my dress. I've been to three shops this weekend and this is the last one I have an appointment with. I flew in my mom, Paige, and my sister so I needed to find a dress before they flew home tomorrow. Claire was also with us and I would feel like I'm drowning if it wasn't for these three. They're helping give me a level of clear-headedness that I'd go crazy without.
Andy and I have set our wedding date for next February, a year from now. Claire is my maid of honor, with Blaire and Paige as my bridesmaids. Our wedding party is going to be lopsided with Andy's groomsmen being his band mates, but it's something I'm choosing not to stress about.
Of course, Kendyll is one of our flower girls, but we can't buy her dress until closer to the wedding since she will grow so much in a year. My niece, Lizzie, is our other flower girl and we'll be buying her dress at the same time as Kendyll's.
Because of that fact, Lizzie is back home with her dad, but I've brought Kendyll with us because Andy's on tour. He left two weeks ago and will get back right before Kendyll's second birthday. He was so happy when he realized he wouldn't have to miss it.
"Mia?" I heard a voice call. I looked to see a short, blonde woman dressed in all black.
"That's me," I said, catching her attention.
"Hi, I'm Sabrina and I'll be your stylist today. If you'll follow me, I'll show you to your dressing room," she said. I gathered everyone that came with me and we followed her to the back of the store. She led us to a wall of mirrors and started pulling chairs from various places.
"So Mia, tell me a little bit about you, your fiancé, your wedding, your dreams," she said. Her attitude was so bubbly that I'm not sure how long I could take being here.
"Well, we did things a little backwards. This is our little girl, she's about 1 and a half," I said, gesturing to Kendyll who was resting on my hip. "We got pregnant with her the night we met and didn't actually get together until well after she was born. We will be getting married a year from now and are in the beginning stages of planning. Because it's a winter wedding, I want something with long sleeves, but nothing too heavy since we are in California. Honestly, I desperately need to find a dress today. Almost everyone here with me flies home tomorrow and this is the 4th shop we've been to this weekend."
"Well, hopefully we can find your dream dress," she said. She gathered a few more pieces of information to help her in her search for my dress. She excused herself to go pull a few options.
"Can I hold Kendyll?" my mom asked, reaching her arms out. I nodded and placed the toddler on her lap. Sabrina returned with a few options, hanging them on the rack on the wall. She pulled the first one off the rack and opened the door, ushering me inside. She stepped in behind me and directed me to get undressed. She helped me into the first dress and then we walked out of the dressing room. She led me to a nearby pedestal and started adjusting the bottom of the dress to get the fabric to lay correctly.
"So, what do you think?" Sabrina asked, stepping to the side so my family could see.
It was white and completely made my feet disappear. The top was made out of lace and had sheer sleeves that touched my wrists. It had a plunging neckline and a sharp distinction between the top and the skirt with a thick band of fabric. The skirt was completely plain and was very heavy with a lot of fabric completely hiding my figure.
