12:51pm
It was noon, and the room was still warm from earlier that day. Iguro sat on the edge of the bed, the comforter draped loosely around his waist, while Mitsuri lay beside him, fully wrapped underneath it. Her breathing was slow and peaceful, her face bathed in the soft afternoon light, and to him, she had never looked more beautiful. He couldn't believe how quickly things had unfolded between them—how fast they had moved from strangers to something so intimate. It felt like fate, as if they had known each other in another life, destined to find their way back to one another, to be together.
His eyes lingered on her as he gently brushed a strand of hair from her face. The moment his fingers touched her cheek, a haunting image surged through his mind. She was in the same position, but her skin was covered in blood, as if she have gotten into a fight. A white and black Haori was covering her, like the one he's saw in the mirror. It felt like a glimpse into another time, one he shouldn't be seeing. He jerked his hand away, and in an instant, everything snapped back to normal—but the unsettling feeling remained.
She stirred, smiling in her sleep, and instinctively snuggled closer to him. His heart still pounded in shock from what he had seen. His hands grew clammy, and he began to sweat. He realized his visions were starting to feel more real than the last, and he couldn't understand what was happening. As he looked back at her nervously, his heart calmed at the sight of her beauty. But then, a dark thought flickered—her ex. He couldn't understand why she had answered the call from him, why she allowed that toxic presence to linger in her life. It angered him, stirred something primal inside. If he had his way, he'd show her ex just how much he was capable of, how much Mitsuri meant to him. But maybe this was her way of reclaiming her own strength, of taking back control.
Pushing both thought aside, he leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. She stirred beneath him, her eyes fluttering open as she smiled at him.
"Hey, I'm going to the kitchen. I'll make something for you to eat" he whispered.
Mitsuri, still half asleep, grinned and reached for him, her fingers teasingly pulling at the covers, almost revealing him. "Aw, I don't want you to go just yet," she teased, her voice a playful whisper.
A smirk curled on Iguro's lips. He hovered over her, pinning her wrists above her head as he leaned down, his breath hot against her neck. "I don't want to either," he murmured, his voice low and sultry, "but we both need to eat if we want to continue later." His eyes held hers, a seductive gleam making Mitsuri blush deeply.
With a soft chuckle, he reluctantly pulled away, slipping on his boxers, sweatpants, and a t-shirt. "I put your clean clothes in the bathroom for you. I was thinking we could go out after we eat." He bent down, kissed her forehead, and smiled, "I'll be in the kitchen when you're ready."
Draping Kaburamaru around his neck, he left the room quietly, closing the door behind him. As he entered the kitchen, his mind still lingered on Mitsuri, but he was brought back to the present when he saw Rengoku sitting at the table, lost in thought, a cup of coffee held loosely in his hand.
To Rengoku, the idea of Mitsuri dating Iguro still weighed heavily on his mind. He wanted to fight for her, be there for her, but something inside told him to let her go. He couldn't go against Iguro—someone he considered a brother, someone who had always been there for him. "Maybe this is for the best... I just hope he treats her better than her ex did," he thought to himself, not realizing Iguro had already sat down across from him, sipping his coffee and observing him.
"You doing alright there?" Iguro's voice snapped Rengoku out of his thoughts, startling him slightly.
"Iguro! Good morning!" Rengoku jumped a little in his seat, his eyes flickering briefly toward Iguro's closed door. For a moment, he thought he might catch a glimpse of Mitsuri coming out with her gentle smile, but quickly dismissed the thought, figuring it was better if she stayed inside.
