The evening was quiet, Kanae stood in the kitchen humming softly to herself as she prepared to make Italian shrimp scampi for dinner. Sanemi had just come back from the grocery store, carrying a couple of paper bags filled with fresh ingredients. He set them on the counter with a grunt, running a hand through his messy hair.

"You forgot the garlic," Kanae teased with a small laugh as she sorted through the bags.

"Tch, really?" Sanemi muttered, scowling. "Alright, I'll head back out and grab it. You want anything else while I'm at it?"

"Hmmm, wine is nice. Just be quick, or dinner won't be as good," she replied, smirking at his exaggerated sigh.

"Fine. Don't burn the damn place down while I'm gone," Sanemi retorted, already grabbing his coat.

Kanae rolled her eyes with a fond smile, waving him off. She watched him go, the door clicking shut behind him. With Sanemi gone, the apartment was quiet save for the soft hum of the refrigerator and Kanae's occasional humming as she tidied up the kitchen.

As she moved around, her eyes landed on Sanemi's wallet sitting on the counter. She let out a small sigh and picked it up.

"He'll need this," she muttered to herself, shaking her head with amusement.

Just as she was about to head to the door to catch him, Kanae froze. The doorknob twisted, and the door clicked open.

"Sanemi?" she called out, expecting to see him rushing back for his wallet. "I was just about to—"

Her words faltered as the figure stepped inside.

It wasn't Sanemi.

Her heart stopped, her breath caught in her throat. Standing in the doorway was a man she recognize—his unsettlingly serene smile and mismatched eyes sending a chill down her spine. He was tall, his posture relaxed, but there was an air of menace about him, like a predator toying with its prey.

Doma.

Before Kanae could scream, Doma moved, a blur of motion that closed the gap in an instant. She staggered back, her heart hammering in her chest, but he was already there. His hands clamped onto her shoulders with inhuman strength, slamming her down onto the unforgiving floor. The impact sent a jolt of agony through her body, her head snapping back to hit the hardwood floor. Black spots swam in her vision as nausea churned in her stomach.

Doma leaned over her, his knees pinning her legs to the ground, his weight pressing her down like an iron cage. His face hovered inches from hers, and his smile was a grotesque mask of delight. "Oh, love," he murmured, his voice dripping with mock tenderness, "it's been far too long. You've no idea how much I've missed you."

He dipped his head, his cold breath ghosting over her skin, and dragged his tongue slowly along the side of her neck. The slick, revolting sensation made her body jerk instinctively, but his hands clamped harder, digging into her shoulders like talons. "Shh, don't squirm," he said softly, the gentleness in his tone making it all the more sickening. "I just want to savor this moment... before I devour you completely."

Kanae's breath came in shallow gasps, her chest heaving as she tried to shove him off. Her hands pressed against his chest, weak and trembling, but he didn't budge. Her strength was nothing compared to his. The blow to her head left her limbs sluggish and uncoordinated, every movement a monumental effort that felt like moving through water.
