Chapter Song: Five Finger Death Punch - "Remember Everything"
(this song really inspired me to write this chapter and help me put myself in Obanai shoes. This chapter doesn't really explain why he changed his name back to Iguro, but I hope the song kind of helps you understand his pain. Don't worry, there's a chapter coming soon about it and I'll add this song again)

Ruka's warm gaze settling on Obanai, her expression softened as she reached out, placing a hand over his. Obanai stiffened slightly at the unexpected touch but didn't pull away."Obanai," she began, her voice gentle but firm, "you've been distant for so long, but I need you to hear me clearly now."
He looked at her, his mismatched eyes meeting hers.
"No matter what happened, or what blood runs through our veins, you are my son," she said, her voice unwavering. "You always have been. From the moment you came into our lives, you became a part of this family. You are as much my son as Kyojuro and Senjuro."
Obanai's eyes widened slightly, the weight of her words sinking in. His lips parted, but no sound came out at first. He finally managed to say, "Ruka, I... I've never known how to thank you. You've always treated me with more love and kindness than I ever deserved."
Ruka smiled, her hand gently squeezing his. "You don't have to thank me, Obanai. Being your mother is enough. I know things with Shinjuro weren't easy, and I know you've carried that pain for a long time, but none of that changes how much you mean to me—or this family."
Obanai's usually stoic face softened, a rare vulnerability showing as he lowered his head slightly. "You've always been so kind to me... I don't know how to repay that."
"You repay it by letting go of the past and allowing yourself to be happy," Ruka said gently. "With yourself, with Kyojuro, and especially with Mitsuri."
Mitsuri, sitting quietly beside Obanai, felt her heart swell. She smiled softly, her hand slipping into Obanai's with a gentle squeeze.
"Thank you," Obanai finally said, his voice low but sincere. "I... I won't argue. I'll never forget how much you've done for me."
Ruka's smile widened, a motherly pride shining in her eyes.
After a few moments of shared warmth, Ruka's expression shifted, becoming more serious. She straightened slightly and fixed both Kyojuro and Obanai with a pointed look.
"Now," she said, folding her hands in her lap, "explain to me why you two thought it was a good idea to beat each other up. I did not raise you to settle your disagreements with fists. I raised you two to be men not boys."
Both men froze and straightened up under her gaze, and Mitsuri had to stifle a laugh at the sight of them reverting to sheepish boys in front of their mother.
Kyojuro cleared his throat nervously, shifting in his seat. "Well, Mother, it wasn't exactly... uh... planned."
Obanai shot him a sharp look, muttering, "You threw the first punch."
"And you threw the second!" Kyojuro retorted, his voice rising slightly before catching himself as Ruka's eyes narrowed.
"Enough." Ruka's voice was firm but calm, instantly silencing them both. "I don't care who started it. What I care about is why. What could possibly drive you two to fight like that?"
The room grew quiet. Mitsuri's eyes darted between the brothers, eager to hear their explanation.
Obanai sighed, leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed. "I thought Kyojuro was trying to take Mitsuri from me," he admitted bluntly.
