Chapter Song: Tomoki Hasegawa - Atatakai Te
________
🍁November🍁
November marked a new chapter for Obanai and Mitsuri, not only because they had finally moved into their dream home but also because life, as they knew it, was about to change forever.
That morning, Mitsuri woke up feeling unusually tired, a weight in her limbs that even her cheery disposition couldn't shake. The rich aroma of her favorite tea seemed overwhelming, and the sight of breakfast made her stomach churn. She brushed it off with a sheepish laugh.
"What's wrong with me today," she muttered to herself, forcing a smile. "I probably didn't sleep well."
The hours dragged by. By early afternoon, she found herself curled on the couch, staring at the soft autumn sunlight filtering through the windows. A wave of nausea came out of nowhere, forcing her to sit up abruptly, clutching her stomach. Her heart raced as she tried to steady her breathing.
By the time 4:30 rolled around, Mitsuri had lost count of how many times she'd felt that strange queasiness. When she heard Obanai's car pull into the driveway, relief flooded her. She always felt calmer when he was near.
"Obi!" she greeted warmly as the door opened, despite her exhaustion. She padded toward him in her soft slippers, her long pink hair flowing down her back. But before she could say more, her stomach twisted violently. Her face paled, and she turned on her heel, running straight to the bathroom.
Obanai froze for a moment, his bag slipping from his shoulder. "Mitsuri?!" he called, his voice sharp with concern. He followed her quickly, his heart pounding in his chest.
When he reached the bathroom, he found her on her knees, clutching the toilet as her body jerk with dry heaves. She looked so fragile, her delicate frame trembling as she leaned forward.
"Mitsuri," he said softly, kneeling beside her. His hand instinctively moved to her back, rubbing gentle circles to comfort her. With his other hand, he swept her hair away from her face, careful to avoid pulling too hard. "Hey... talk to me. What's going on?"
She coughed, trying to catch her breath, her voice hoarse. "I... I don't know," she stammered, leaning back against the wall for support. "I've felt off all day, but now... I don't know what's wrong with me, Obi." Her green eyes looked up at him, wide with confusion and worry.
Obanai studied her closely. Her flushed cheeks, her sudden sensitivity to smells, the exhaustion she'd mentioned just the other day—all the signs clicked into place in his mind. A thought struck him, so clear and undeniable that he almost couldn't bring himself to say it aloud.
"Mitsuri," he began hesitantly, his voice softer than usual. "Do you think you could be... pregnant?"
Her lips parted, but no words came out. She blinked at him, her hands trembling slightly as they moved instinctively to her stomach. "P-Pregnant?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm... am I supposed to feel this way? I feel like my body's giving up on me."
Obanai sat back on his heels, his mismatched eyes locked on her face. "I think... you are Mits." he replied quietly. "It makes sense, doesn't it? The nausea, the tiredness... Mitsuri, it's possible. We haven't been using protection lately."
She stared at him, her expression a mixture of fear and hope as tears ran down her pale face. "Obanai... I'm... scared."
He reached out, his hands cupping hers as if to steady her. "It's okay," he said, his voice firm despite the tremble in his fingers. "We'll figure this out."
