The warm sunrise filtered through the windows, casting soft beams across the tiny apartment. Hakuji slid the door open, stepping inside with his usual quiet grace. The faint aroma of freshly brewed tea lingered in the air, a scent that always reminded him of her.

"Koyuki," he called gently, his deep voice carrying a softness that only appeared when he was home.

"I'm here," her delicate voice responded from the small living area.

He walked in to find her standing by the window, holding a small notepad in her hands. She looked up and smiled at him, her features lighting up in a way that always managed to calm the tension in his chest.

"Welcome home," she said warmly. "I've been getting the list ready."

"That's good," he replied, his lips curving into a faint smile. "Are you ready to go?"

She nodded, setting the notepad down on the table. "Just let me grab my coat."

As she reached for the coat draped over the chair, Hakuji stepped forward. "Hold on," he said, gently taking it from her hands. He helped her into it, his hands steady and deliberate. Then, before she could protest, he grabbed her scarf and hat from the rack.

"It's cold outside," he said, wrapping the scarf snugly around her neck before placing the knit hat over her head.

Koyuki giggled softly, her cheeks tinged with a rosy hue. "You always worrying," she said, though her tone was laced with affection.

"It's not that," he replied simply, adjusting the scarf to make sure it was just right. His large hands brushed against her shoulders, lingering there for a moment as he met her gaze. "I don't want you catching a cold, you know what the doctor said."

She smiled up at him, her eyes filled with warmth. "I know, Thank you, Hakuji. You always take such good care of me."

He didn't respond right away, his lips pressing into a thin line. "Of course I do," he finally said, his voice low but firm. "You're everything to me, Koyuki."

Her cheeks flushed deeper at his words, and she quickly picked up the notepad to distract herself. "Here," she said, handing it to him. "This is what we need."

He scanned the list briefly before handing it back to her. "You keep it," he said. "I want you to hold on to me till we get there. We're in no rush, so we'll take our time. I don't want you pushing yourself."

She nodded obediently, her smile softening as she took his arm. "Alright, I'll hold on to you."

The crisp afternoon air greeted them as they stepped outside. Koyuki looped her arm through Hakuji's, leaning into his steady warmth. His presence was like a shield, warding off any discomfort the chilly breeze might bring.

"Is this pace okay?" he asked, glancing down at her.

"It's perfect," she replied, her voice light. "With you here, I don't have to worry about anything."

His lips twitched into a rare smile, and for the first time all day, the tight knot of stress in his chest began to unravel. Being with her always had that effect on him.

The convenience store wasn't crowded, which Hakuji was grateful for. As they stepped inside, the warmth of the store enveloped them, and Koyuki pulled away slightly to retrieve the notepad from her pocket.

"Let's split up," she suggested. "I'll grab a few things from this section that I need, and you can check the men's aisle for what you need."

He frowned slightly, his protective instincts flaring. "Are you sure? I can stay with you."
