As the evening wound down, they both stood up, stretching slightly as they gathered their things. The air was cool outside, but the warmth between them felt more than enough to keep them content. They walked side by side out of the cafe, their hands intertwined, not wanting to let go. Obanai glanced at his watch, then turned to Mitsuri, his expression softening.
"Since it's your birthday," he said, voice low and warm, "what do you want to do now?"
Mitsuri paused, her cheeks flushing a little as she thought about it. She hadn't allowed herself to think about what she wanted until this very moment, but now that she was here, with him, it all seemed so clear.
"I... I just want to go home," she said, voice gentle but resolute, her eyes meeting his. "Back to our apartment. I want to be there with you. It's all I've wanted for my birthday."
Obanai studied her for a moment, his gaze full of affection. "Are you sure?" he asked softly, his thumb brushing against her hand. "I can take you wherever you want to go, but if that's what you really want..."
Mitsuri nodded, her heart full. "Yes," she replied, her voice steady. "Coming to Shibuya and being with you again—reuniting with you—is my birthday wish. And now, all I want to do is be alone with you, Obanai."
Obanai's lips curved into a smile. He squeezed her hand, his heart swelling with emotion. "Okay," he said, his voice low but filled with tenderness. "Then let's go home."

The drive back to the apartment felt short, even though the city buzzed with life around them. As they arrived and stepped into the apartment, Mitsuri immediately noticed the changes. The old furniture had been replaced with new, light brown, cozy pieces that felt so inviting. There were soft whites and gentle greens woven throughout, giving the space a calm, serene feel—almost as if it were designed with her in mind.
She couldn't help but let out a small gasp, her eyes widening with surprise. "Obanai... this is beautiful," she whispered, taking in the new surroundings, which still held a sense of warmth and familiarity. It felt like home, and yet, it felt like a new chapter, a fresh start.
Before she could speak more, Chichi came bounding over. She meowed and rubbed against Mitsuri's feet, purring happily. Mitsuri squealed with joy, her heart swelling with emotion at the sight of her beloved cat. She quickly bent down, lifting Chichi into her arms, tears welling in her eyes.
"I missed you so much," she whispered into the soft fur, cradling Chichi as if she were holding onto a piece of her old life—her old self. The cat nuzzled against her cheek, and Mitsuri couldn't help but sob softly, her tears falling freely.
