"John b what are we doing?" JJ asks putting his hands on his shoulders John b looks at me again, his mouth barely moved. He couldn't get any words out. He was panicked, and I knew what for, he didn't want to turn into his dad.
"Hide the body" I speak up and everyone turns to look at me "Hide the body where?" Pope asks in a hurry JJ looks at me then back at pope "Shut up. That's what we're doing ok?" JJ tells him. "Behind the couch. It's our only option. Move it" I tell them "Behind the couch?!" Pope asks "Are hiding the body-" kie starts to say "Guys keep it down" JJ tells them "Grab his legs" I tell JJ as we both go over to bim
"Maybe we should- don't drag him. You're gonna smear blood across the entire house" kie tells us "John b hey hey, I need you to help JJ pick him up" I tell him and he looks at me "Look at me, you're not your dad ok. We need your help" I tell him and he finally knocks out of it and starts to help I run over to cleo who looked sick. "Hey cleo, go upstairs ok? I don't want you to have to see this. It'll be ok, go" I tell her and she runs upstairs
"Ella get your ass over here!" JJ whisper yells at me "Put him on here and then you can roll him" kie says as I run over "She's right. Here. One two-" John b says as he helps JJ "You're putting him on a skateboard? Really?" Pope asks "Pope shut up we have no choice, now just fucking help us" I tell him
"Shit shit shit" I mumble as I do my best to clean up the blood all over the ground "It's too sticky!" I tell them and try to think "Bleach! Get me bleach" I tell kie and she runs over with some "Dump it" I tell her and start to wipe it up again, it was working.
"Wait the gun the gun. Pope you have to do something with the gun. We'll get rid of it later just wipe off the prints" kie tells him and he quickly wipes it off and throws it in a drawer
We quickly finished wiping up everything. "He's coming he's coming. John b sit down" I tell him in a hurry I put a newspaper on my face and act like I was asleep as they walk in.
"Oh shit what's up yall?" JJ asks as they walk in "Hi shoupe" I say sitting up acting tried "We were just hanging out" John b says "Yeah. Gangs all here huh?" Shoupe says "Hey" kie says "So uh yall too high to hear me knocking?" He asks "It's just been uh been a long day" kie tells him "Hey everybody mind clearing out for a minute and letting me talk to your boy alone?" Shoupe asks us "Yeah yeah no problem shoupe." John b says "We'll just get out of your hair" kie says "We'll be outside when you're done JJ" I tell him walking off "Yeah yeah see yall in a second" he nods "Good seeing yall" shoupe says as we walk out
We all walk outside and let out a lot of sighs. "I'm gonna throw up" kie says "We're good right?" John b asks "What do you mean? There's a body behind the couch." Pope says "Ok what do you want to do? You wanna move it?" John b asks "No I don't wanna go back inside" pope says turning around and putting his hands on his head "We should've never touched him. Because we hadn't committed any crimes. And now we've committed a crime" kie says "Listen there's nothing we can do now alright! It's done, we had no other option. You really think shoupe is going to believe that just happened to happen right when he pulls up? No! He wouldn't especially not after Wes dying too!" I tell them all and everyone stops talking
I sat with John b as we waited. Kie and pope were a little further away. "Are you ok?" I ask him "Huh?" John b says snapping out of his thoughts "John b I know what you're thinking. You're not your dad" I tell him "Star you know better than anyone I am. And it just keeps showing slowly." He tells him "John b look at me. Yes you're like your father is some ways, smart, you never back down, you show your passion. But there are things you have that he didn't show, you put others before yourself, you're caring and thoughtful. John b you're not a bad person, I know you think you are but you are not. And going on this treasure hunt won't change a thing about you ok?" I tell him "God what would I do without you?" He smiles "Probably wouldn't have made it this far to be honest" I laugh and he brings me into a kiss "Thank you Star" he smiles "Anytime" I smile back
After a while of sitting in silence I hear a truck start. "He's leaving. That's a good sign." kie says "What'd he say?" I ask JJ as he walks up "What... what was he doing here?" John b asks "We're good. Kind of." JJ says "Man did he find the body or not?" Pope asks "No. He did not find Terrance ok?" JJ asks "Why did he want to talk to you and not all of us?" I ask JJ "Because one of the kooks recorded me saying 'I'll kill you all' at the beach. Or whatever but-" JJ says "That's why?" I ask him "Well there's the hyperbolic- it doesn't matter he didn't see Terrance. That's the main thing ok? There's something else though. Shoupe thinks Genertte was murdered and it has something to do with us. But I told him we weren't anywhere near his place." JJ tells us "And he believed you?" Kie asks "About everything. I mean kie look whose son all right? He bought it. He did. Pope he didn't see him. Nothing to worry about there. Hey yo pope you handled it all right? We got it. We got nothing to worry about." JJ tells us
Little did we know we had quite literally everything to worry about. And I mean everything.
