"Yeah take it Ella! Take it! Take it!" JJ yells as I surf a wave "Yeah Star!!" John b cheers We each took turns calling "mine" if we were taking a wave. It was just like old times.
After a while I was going back out to grab some water. And of course I hear somebody yell. "Hey Stella I like the long board. You know, a classic." He smiles but I knew what he was doing "Thanks" I answer and keep walking
As I walk I see Rafe sitting with someone I'm guessing was his girlfriend. I look away after a second. I felt sick every time I did. And I'm not even sure why.
As I started to paddle back our there I saw JJ and topper both going for the same wave. "Oh great" I mumble coming next to John b "It'll be fun" he mumbles back to me JJ ends up knocking topper down and takes the wave for himself. To be honest, it was quite funny. "So much for keeping peace" kie says "When does JJ ever?" I shrug
"What the hell dude? You oughta teach your boy to wait his turn." Topper tells us "Yeah we'll teach him" Kelce says "Oh yeah I'll text him right quick. Hey J can you..." John b says acting like he was texting "Classic pogue shit man" topper says "It's not that deep bro" kie says "I thought we were chill" topper says and I roll my eyes
After a long day at the beach we decided to go ahead and call it. We started to pack up everything when kie yells. "Guys! There's a turtle hatch" kie says "What?" JJ asks "Guys there's a turtle hatch!" She yells running over "Oh my gosh!" I yell running over as well
We all run over looking at them all. "There so little" I say "Look at these little nuggets" John b says "Wait back up, give them space. You can't touch them" kie says "We gotta make a path right?" John b asks "Yeah clear the way" kie says and we all start to make a path for them "Stella keep the gulls off" she tells me and I nod "Ok I don't see any yet" I tell her
"We should make like a highway" John b says "A turtle way" JJ corrects "A turtle way! Come on kids!" I laugh "Follow your human daddy straight to the ocean-ocean." John b laughs
I stand up when I hear a car heading towards us. "Hey! Hey stop there's a hatch!" Kie yells waving her hands I join her side and wave my hands too "Hey stop! Stop there's a hatch!" I yell But they weren't stopping "Go around! Stop!" We try to tell them but they didn't Kie and I jump out of the way last second. Diving to the ground. "What the hell was that?" JJ asks as him and John b come help us up "Fucking assholes" kie mumbles "Are you ok?" John b asks us and we both nod looking at the car
The car stops facing us again. "What are they doing?" John b asks "No hell no. There's a hatch!" kie yells again "Hey stop! Stop!" I yell too by her side again
Toppers girlfriend goes around us and throws a drink on kie and i. "Suck it Pogues" she yells and drives off JJ and John b run over to us quickly "Are you ok?" John b asks me "Fine. Just pissed" I tell him
I watch as kie stands up and walks over to the turtles. She leans down and picks one up. They run over one. Kie starts to tear up as well as me. She stands up and looks at us. "Stay here" she says then walks off JJ starts to follow calling her name, I also start to follow but John b grabs my hand. "Star no." He says "What?" I asks "Not today" he shakes his head I just look at him knowing he's right so I don't move. I just watch the whole yelling fight break out.
The car ride home was mostly silent. The occasional "kooks are assholes" comment. We finally pull back into the house. "Just every time like every single time we see them, something goes wrong." Kie says as we get out of the car She keeps going on her rant, which is well deserved, as JJ tries to help her.
We look up to see pope walking towards us. "Hey" I call out "Yo" JJ says "Hi" kie mumbles "How'd it go?" JJ asks but we all look down seeing blood on his hands "Pope" JJ says "What is that? Is that blood?" I ask him "Pope whose blood is that?" Kie asks "Pope what happened?" JJ asks "Where's cleo?" I ask him "She's...she's inside" pope says "Cleo!" I yell running inside I walk in to see cleo crying, and the man who she saw as a father figure dead on the ground.
Pope has explained to me what he had found out and what happened. It was very quick conversation considering he was talking super fast because his emotions were high, but I mostly understand it all. John b had takin him outside to help calm him down and ask him about what he found. I tried to comfort cleo the best I could, knowing what it felt like. But at the moment nothing could help her.
As we sat inside we heard a truck engine and JJ and I look out the window. "Oh shit" he mumbles then runs out to tell John b and pope "Oh my gosh oh my gosh" I mumble knowing we were screwed. "Um why's he here, he's just sitting in his car." Kie says "Oh shit" John b mumbles
We all just mumble not moving. "What do we do?" I say being the first to really speak "We have a dead body in our living room. What are we gonna do?" Pope asks "Shit pope." JJ mumbles "What do you mean? We have to tell the truth" kie says "Are you kidding me kie?" JJ asks "We did nothing wrong. Someone broke into our house!" kie says "Kie it's shoupe!" JJ says "And attacked us and stole from us!" Kie says "He's never gonna believe us!" JJ tells her
"What we need to do, is get out of here. We need to banana split." JJ says "And go where? That never works" kie tells him "Ok I don't know. But it's better than staying here. Rule number one, never trust a cop. Especially that one! Ok?" JJ says Then we hear shoupe at the door. "Then what do we do?" Kie asks and I look at John b "We did nothing wrong" kie says one more time "I need you to make a decision right now. What's it gonna be?" JJ asks John b looks over at me and I could tell he was in a panic. I start to think on what we should do, we have no other options.
