Part 26

"Growing up, luke would always tell me when he was drunk off his ass, if there's one thing that I know, hell is other people. When I was a kid I didn't get it. It didn't make any sense to me. But then one day, I just decided to ask him. I said, what do you mean hell is other people? And he looked at me for a while, then he just said, just keep on living... and you'll find out. Luke's been wrong about a lot of things. But man was he right about that one. Went from a fake dad, to a real dad, who just tried to kill me. Yeah luke, yeah I found out. Hell certainly is other people." Jj says as we all lay around the fire again

 

"So this Berber guy that drew the map, he's Moroccan right? Last time jj saw Groff he was probably headed to Essaouira on the Moroccan coast. Seems like that's where we need to go." Pope tells us and I look at John b

After a while I decide to go talk to jj.
"Hey j" I say walking up to him
"Hey" he mumbles as he takes another drink of alcohol
"You know that's not gonna help the situation. Drinking. Trust me I tried jj, it doesn't help" I tell him
"Yeah well it sure seems like it's helping me now" he tells me
"Jj, talk to me. I understand what it feels like, I can help you" I tell him and he sighs
"I don't know what to think, or say. I just- for the first time I had a real dad, a real dad who I thought actually wanted me for me. Then it gets thrown down the drain again. Just like everything else in my life" he tells me and I just look at him before bringing him into a tight hug
"You'll be ok J. We're gonna figure this out. I'll be right here to help you ok? I mean hey I'm family right. Imma stick by your side forever" I tell him breaking the hug to look at him
"At least I know you won't bail on me" he laughs
"Never" I smile

Then I see him look past my shoulder. He runs past me and jumps up on a flipped over boat
"Oh shit. Guys." Jj says and everyone starts to run over
"It's the cops" he tells us
"How did they find us?" Kie asks
"So what's the plan?" Pope asks
"Follow me. Let's go" John b says as we all start to follow him

We all start to walk under the dock, and hide once the cops start to walk towards us, yelling for jj to come out. Then as they walk over us we start to go deeper into the water, getting to the point where we had to swim. But we all stop when the cop tells something about a murder of Hollis Robinson
"Murder?" Kie asks quietly
We all quickly swim over to the boats, hoping they don't look back and see us.
"We'll take the pontoon. It's ready to go" John b tells us
We all get on the boat and John b starts it up.
"Go go go" I tell John b and he drives us away, as the cops coming running down to dock yelling for us to come back.

"So guess I'm the new murderer in town then, check that off the bucket list." Jj says
"Yeah it doesn't help that they have you on video saying I will kill them all" pope says
"Ok no one asked pope ok?" Jj says
"Forget all of that. We gotta get off this island." Cleo says
"I can't go back. I mean might as well go after that scroll right?" Pope says
"I mean I could be down for a little Moroccan vacay. What do you say we get out of dodge for a few weeks? And maybe... I could catch up with my dad." Jj says
"We're gonna need a bigger boat. Hell a ship maybe. You know how far Morocco is? Way way way out there." Cleo tells us

"All right guys we gotta boost a boat that can make it to Morocco. Take your pick. We got a lot to choose from" jj says as we drive through all the kooks boats
"What about that one?" I ask
"It's a flat hull. It's not gonna make it across the ocean. Also they break down all the time." John b says
"Hey that's rafes boat. It's nice." kie points out
"I'd be with you on that one, but the reality is it's not gonna to make it across the ocean either. It's not big enough. Groff would nab the crown before we were halfway to Morocco." John b says

"What about this baby right here?" Jj asks as we drive up to one
"You know that's like a $2 million boat." Pope says
"It's pretty" I add
"Big engine" John b adds
"I think that's the one" kie says
"You know we could all go to jail for taking a boat like that." Pope says
"Pope you're gonna go to jail for things you already did" cleo tells him
"Nothing to worry about. We're just gonna borrow it." Jj says as we tie the boat up
"Looks like nobody's home." Cleo says
"I'll go look for keys." Jj says
"Let's make this fast guys" kie says

I stayed at the bottom with cleo and kie on the lookout. But the boys were taking forever. Kie quickly run up to ask what was taking forever. But then cleo and I see cops running down the dock.
"Hey guys guys!" I say
"Coppers!" Cleo tells them
"We still gotta find a boat to get to Morocco" pope says as we all jump back onto the cops boat
"Yeah but first we gotta ditch these cops" cleo says
"Jj!" I yell trying to get him to hurry
"I'm coming I'm coming!" He says jumping on the boat

"I got it we gotta go fast. All right everyone hold on." Cleo says as she starts to drive off quickly
"Ahh shit that guy" pope mumbles as a cop comes to the end of the dock
"What are you doing? What's that?" Kie asks jj as he gets something out
"What's he doing?" John b asks
"Jj" I say once he puts the flare in the gun thing
We all let out a gasp when jj shoots a flare at the cop. We all duck when we hear a gun shot fired. But I look over to see Kiera's dad had pushed the cop down, that was the only reason the bullet wasn't close to us. I look over at kie who was already looking at him.
"Are you crazy?" Pope yells at jj
"You're welcome." Jj answers
"We're leaking" pope says pointing at the back of the boat
"What? Shit" I mumble
"They shot the boat" John b says
"Damn it" jj mumbles

"Check for a patch" pope says as he tries to hold the hole closed with his hands.
"I'm looking!" Jj says
"I need something to cover it up. Hey we're losing air. We gotta get somewhere fast."  pope tells us
