Chapter 121: All Because of You

He Yi stepped out of the new shop, pausing in the shadow beneath the eaves to look back at her husband. "Are we still calling it Fresh Orchard?"

"Yes. Yimo said all our stores will have that name. It’s part of a brand strategy she has in mind. Once there are more stores, having a unified name will make the brand even stronger."

"She’s never been wrong about this kind of thing. I really don’t know how that brain of hers works," He Yi laughed and sighed. "Are you staying here or heading back to the old shop?"

"I’ve covered everything that needs to be explained here, and there’s not much more I can do. I’ll just stop by every day to check in."

They climbed into the car. Just as Miao Jun started the engine, his phone rang. He Yi picked it up and glanced at the screen. "It’s Muyang. Didn’t we just see him? What’s he calling about?"

Miao Jun took the phone and answered. But instead of Zhai Muyang’s voice, it was Song Yimo on the other end.

He Yi was about to speak, but Miao Jun raised a hand, motioning her to wait.

Song Yimo explained everything in detail, even her own decision to take on the expenses.

"So, you're in Mang City now? Got it. Stay there, and we’ll come meet you."

Seeing the seriousness on her husband’s face, He Yi couldn’t wait to ask, "What’s going on?"

"Three of Yimo’s classmates were in a car accident, and two of them are in critical condition," Miao Jun said as he merged the car back into traffic. "One was taken to the city hospital and is still in emergency care, status unknown. The other’s spinal cord is injured; the county hospital says there’s a high chance of paralysis. Only a hospital in City B might offer any hope of recovery."

He Yi gasped, "It’s that serious? What about Zhiruo? Did she come along too?"

"No, Yimo told her to stay at the county hospital and monitor the situation," Miao Jun replied, uncertain whether to be proud or concerned. "Both families can’t afford the treatment, so Yimo decided to cover the costs herself."

He Yi’s face filled with worry. "That girl! Even if she has money, she can’t just go handing it out like that. Treating two people in that condition will cost a fortune!"

"Well, we’re among the beneficiaries of her generosity, aren’t we?"

"But... but it’s different for us, isn’t it? Our connection to Yimo is like family!"

Miao Jun glanced at his wife. "If Yimo hadn’t helped us, we would’ve managed somehow—it’d be a bit tight, but we’d get by. But for these two, it could be life or death. Yimo could have turned away if she didn’t know, but now that she does, she would carry the guilt for the rest of her life if she didn’t try to help."

"But this kind of burden isn’t hers alone to bear! It’s not like money falls from the sky for her. She squeezes time out of her already heavy high school schedule to write novels. That’s not an easy life. Look at her—she’s either at school or home, rarely goes out even during breaks. She may not admit it, but she’s just used to enduring. And we know that better than anyone."

She'd scrimped and saved, her meager earnings slowly accumulating over time. With a heavy heart, she'd relinquished her hard-earned fortune to the couple in need. Now, she found herself starting anew, her coffers once more depleted. Little did she know that fate had other plans, a cruel twist that threatened to drain her resources once again.

A gnawing doubt crept into her mind: would her current savings suffice?

He Yi’s heart ached as she thought of all this and couldn’t help but grumble. "And what about Muyang? Couldn’t he have stopped her?"
