Chapter 143: Finally Knowing
Song Yimo looked over at her brother.
They had known each other for over two years now, and yet he rarely discussed business matters at home with her. Even for Mo Guang and the resort, in which she held shares, he only occasionally mentioned them.
She had never asked him about the extent of his assets because she didn’t need to know.
Talking to him about the stock market wasn’t because she expected him to change its course or prevent those tragedies from happening. She just wanted to make sure he, and his friends, could avoid losses.
She wasn’t a Bodhisattva saving all suffering souls; she could only do what was within her power.
Zhai Muyang had already formed a plan, but when he glanced up, he saw Yimo sighing.
If it were anyone else, he might have called it needless sympathy—who could possibly carry such concerns?
But knowing Yimo was troubled by it made his heart ache. No matter what he could do, he would give it his best.
“Let me handle this, alright? You just focus on your college entrance exams.”
“I don’t think about it all the time,” she replied with a smile, “I barely have time for that. I’m buried under tests every day! Oh, right, Dage—you said your friend is coming tomorrow?”
“Yes, scheduled for tomorrow. Why, do you have something planned?”
Song Yimo tugged at her hair. “Some of the girls are coming over to do practice exams tomorrow.”
Over the last two years, this had become routine, and Zhai Muyang was well used to it. After a thought, he asked, “Would it be alright to have dinner together?”
“Dinner would be fine. I’m only meeting them in the morning, so by evening my brain will need the break.”
“Then I’ll pick you up for dinner.”
“We’re going to the restaurant at the resort, right?”
“Yes.” Zhai Muyang smiled. “You can invite your friends along if you like; I’ll arrange another table for them.”
Song Yimo was tempted but hesitated—her brother’s friend would be there, after all. What if he turned out to be a playboy like Zheng-ge? Her friends wouldn’t stand a chance against that charm.
“Maybe next time. After the exams, I’ll bring them over.”
Zhai Muyang didn’t press further and changed the subject. “The best foreign language university in the country is in B City. With your grades, you’d have no trouble getting in. I’ve already bought a place near campus and it’s being renovated—it's much bigger than here. I’ll even have Wu Mu help arrange it so you can live there from freshman year.”
Song Yimo’s eyes widened. “But I’m not planning to study in B City!”
“What other choice would you pick besides B City? B University? That’s fine, too. It’s not far.”
Song Yimo felt a little flustered. “I’ve decided on the foreign language school in S City. I mentioned it to Grandpa, and my friends know about it too. Didn’t I tell you?”
Zhai Muyang looked more surprised than he had been about the stock market. After a moment, he understood her reasoning.
Was he happy?
Certainly, he was touched that his sister cared so much for him.
How could he not be?
But it was more than that.
