Five Years Later...
Jhoana's POV
The sound of laughter filled our house, mixing with the occasional bickering of our children. Beatriz Jiana, our five-year-old daughter, ran around the living room, her tiny feet barely making a sound against the floor as she shrieked with excitement.
"Beatriz Jiana! Bumalik ka rito!" Bea called, chasing after her with determination in her eyes.
Jiana giggled, quickly climbing onto the couch where Bennie sat, pretending to be too busy with his coloring book to care.
"Kuya! Dada's going to catch me!" she whined, clutching Bennie’s arm.
Bennie sighed dramatically. "Jiji, stop being makulit kay Dada. You know hindi siya papayag na matalo sa habulan."
With one swift motion, Bea caught Jiana and lifted her up, spinning her around. "Gotcha, little troublemaker!"
Jiana kicked her feet in the air, laughing uncontrollably. "Dada, I was just playing!"
Bea kissed her cheek, squeezing her tighter. "Eh ‘di ako rin, I'm just playing," she teased before tickling Jiana's sides, making our daughter scream in delight.
I stood by the kitchen, leaning against the counter, watching them with a soft smile.
Five years. Five years since we got married, since we built this life together, and I still couldn’t believe how lucky I was.
After our wedding, Bea decided to stay permanently in the Philippines since okay din siya about her memory hindi lahat bumalik. She built her business here, working hard to ensure we had everything we needed. Bennie was now nine years old, a bright, caring kuya to Jiana, and an absolute mama’s boy.
As for me, I finally pursued my passion for interior design double degree to Psychology to Interior Design. With Bea’s endless support, I established my own firm, and business had been thriving ever since.
Life hadn’t been perfect—there were sleepless nights, countless arguments, and unexpected struggles—but through it all, we never wavered. We always found our way back to each other.
Bea turned to me, her eyes softening. "Love, kanina ka pa nakangiti d’yan. Ano iniisip mo?"
I walked towards her, wrapping my arms around her waist as Jiana clung to her shoulder. "Nothing. Just... I love our life, Beatriz."
She smiled, kissing my forehead. "Me too, love. Me too."
Bennie looked up from his coloring book, smirking. "Ew, Dada and Mom are being cheesy again."
Jiana giggled. "I think it’s cute kuya!"
Bea raised an eyebrow at our son. "You say that now, but when you grow up, gagayahin mo rin kami, hmm?"
Bennie rolled his eyes. "No way, Dada. Girls are gross."
I laughed, ruffling his hair. "We'll see about that, baby boy."
Sitting in the living room that night, after putting the kids to bed, I found myself reminiscing about our wedding day.
It was simple yet beautiful. We got married with simple ceremony, surrounded by our family. I could still remember how Bea looked in her white suit, how she couldn't stop staring at me the entire time.
"I still can't believe I married you," Bea whispered that night, tracing circles on my back as we lay in bed.
I smiled, playing with the ring on my finger. "Believe it, Mrs. de Leon."
The honeymoon was just as memorable. We spent a week in Maldives, just the two of us, without any distractions. It was the first time in a long time that we had each other all to ourselves.
And of course, Jiana was conceived soon after.
The next day...
Jiana was a firecracker, a mix of both Bea’s stubbornness and my emotional sensitivity. She was fearless, never backing down from a challenge, much like her Dada.
Bennie, on the other hand, was more mature, thoughtful, and protective. He adored his little sister, though he’d never admit it.
"Mom, Dada’s letting Jiana eat a lot of chocolate!" Bennie tattled
Bea gasped dramatically, holding a spoonful of ice cream near Jiana’s mouth. "What? Betrayal! Bennie, anak, why must you snitch on me?"
Jiana giggled, licking the spoon before Bea could take it away.
I sighed. "Beatriz, seriously?"
Bea pouted. "She deserves a little treat."
"She’s five, and you’re going to have her bouncing off the walls before bedtime!"
Jiana, proving my point, suddenly ran in circles around the living room.
Bennie shook his head. "See? I told you, Mom."
I crossed my arms, glaring at Bea. "You’re the worst influence."
She grinned, pulling me close. "And yet, you love me anyway." Inirapan ko siya
Later that night, as we lay in bed, Bea pulled me into her arms, resting her chin on my shoulder.
"You know what’s missing?" she murmured.
I raised an eyebrow. "Ano nanaman?"
She grinned. "One more baby."
I gasped, smacking her arm. "Isabel Beatriz de Leon, isa pa?! Hindi na ako baby-making machine!"
She pouted. "Oh, come on, love. Imagine a big family, more love, more chaos—"
"More sleepless nights!" I cut her off, laughing.
She hugged me tighter. "But more love, Jho. Just imagine that."
I sighed, pretending to think. Then, I smirked. "We’ll talk about it after you survive one week of taking care of Jiana and Bennie alone."
Bea’s eyes widened. "Wait, that’s unfair—"
I kissed her cheek. "Take it or leave it, Mrs. de Leon."
She groaned, but she was smiling. "Fine. Challenge accepted."
Nine Months Later...
Turns out, she won the challenge.
Because here I was, lying in a hospital bed, cradling our newborn son.
"Welcome to the world, baby Gabriel Isaac," I whispered, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead.
Bea sat beside me, teary-eyed, holding my hand tightly. "Jho, he’s perfect."
Jiana and Bennie stood by the bed, staring in awe at their baby brother.
"He’s so tiny," Jiana whispered.
Bennie grinned. "That means I have two siblings to protect now."
Bea leaned in, kissing me softly. "Thank you, love. For giving me this beautiful family."
I smiled, resting my forehead against hers. "We built this together, Bea. This is our love, our forever."
As our children giggled and our newborn cooed in my arms, I knew—this was everything I had ever dreamed of.
And I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
The End
