Bea's POV
Time passes by, and it’s almost been 3 months since I’ve been here. All I can say is that following my parents’ advice to stay here turned out better than expected. Honestly, I don’t even want to go back to the States anymore. I’m happy here, but I’d be even happier if Mom and Dad would let me stay in Manila. Jho’s classes are about to start at Ateneo, and I’ve gotten used to being with her all the time.
As for Jho, we’re really close. We spend every day together. I remember the first time I kissed her forehead—it was at the mall when we were buying clothes for her, and she was so shocked! Haha, I didn’t even know why I did it, but now it’s become a regular thing, with hugs included.
We’re not in a relationship, if that’s what you’re wondering, but she’s special to me. I’m hoping she feels the same way, though she’s moody sometimes. Plus, there are guys who won’t leave her alone. Like I said, I’ll be going back to the States soon, and I can’t pursue her only to leave her behind.
*Sigh.* Next week, her classes will start, and I need to convince Mom to let me stay at LGV, which is near Ateneo, so I can still be with Jho all the time.
"Ang lalim naman nun ah," a voice interrupted my thoughts. I was sitting by the pool, soaking my feet, when I realized my brother was talking to me.
"Hii, Kuys."
"Any problem?" he asked, sitting next to me.
"Nothing, Kuys. I’m just thinking about what will happen when I go back to the States. Haha, I’m sure I’m going to miss this place," I said to avoid more follow-up questions. He nodded while smiling.
"Haha, see? Before, you didn’t even want to come here for a vacation, and now look at you—you love it. But are you sure you’ll miss *this* place, or the person you’re always with?" Kuya teased, a mischievous smile on his face.
"What are you talking about, Kuya? Of course, I’ll miss this place. I got used to the fresh air," I replied, but he was smirking, clearly unconvinced.
"Haha, okay, deny it all you want. Just be careful, baka maunahan ka ng iba. You’re still in denial, ang bagal mo," he teased again.
"Come on, Kuys, itulog mo na 'yan. Kung mang-aasar ka lang, papasok na ako, iiwan kita dito," I said, pretending to walk away.
"Haha, okay, hindi na. Let’s talk nalang."
"Talk about what? Haha, wala naman akong masasabi sa'yo. I’m just here enjoying my vacation, nothing else," I said.
"That’s good. Haha, I guess you really will miss this place."
"But, Kuys, I want something new. I’m getting too used to the quiet here. Do you think Mom will let me stay at LGV, so I can at least adjust to the city?" I asked, hoping he’d help me convince Mom, since I knew Dad would probably say yes.
"Well, I don’t know. Do you want me to talk to her?"
"Maybe, if you can. Why not?"
"Okay, let me handle it. Anyway, it’s your last year, and you’ll be graduating soon. What’s your plan? Are you going to stay in the States for good, or are you coming back here?" he asked.
"Well, I don’t know, Kuya. But one thing’s for sure—I’m going to help you and Dad with our businesses. Haha."
"Haha, of course. Kahit hindi mo sabihin, wala ka namang choice. Your position is already waiting for you. Haha."
We laughed and talked about our lives, his life, and how our family business was doing.
"It’s late. We got carried away with our conversation. Dad will definitely make a fuss when he finds out we didn’t include him. Haha," Kuya said.
"Haha, that’s one hundred percent sure!"
"Haha, okay, I’m heading up. I’ve got meetings tomorrow. Good night," Kuya said as he stood up and tapped my shoulder.
"I’ll talk to Mom, para mas malapit ka kay Jhoana," he whispered, walking away quickly while laughing.
"Kuyaaaa!" I called after him.
"It’s okay, Isabel!" he shouted back, still laughing. How does he know that? It’s okay—he’s just teasing me. It’s not like I admitted anything.
Speaking of, I left my phone upstairs. I stood up and ran to get it. When I checked, there were no messages. That girl! She said she’d message me kapag pauwi na siya susunduin ko siya sa terminal. I decided to call her, but she wasn’t answering.
She went to Ateneo today. I insisted on driving her there, but she refused, saying she wanted to learn how to commute. I even offered to go with her, even though I don’t know how to commute, but she agreed. Then something came up at the farm, and since Mom and Kuya weren’t around, I had to take care of it. So, Jho left on her own.
She has a phone now—the one I bought her when we stayed in Manila for a week. I’m the only contact in it, haha. We talk at night when we’re not together.
I decided to drive to her house, since it’s not far, and I was worried because she wasn’t answering her phone. While driving, I saw two people walking. I knew it was Jho, but who’s the guy with her? I decided to drive past them and head straight to her house.
When I arrived, her dad, Tito John, noticed me.
"O, naparito ka, Bea? Wala pa si Jho. May ipapagawa ba kayo sa kanya?" he asked.
"Meron po sana, kaso I’ve been trying to reach her through phone calls, pero hindi siya sumasagot, kaya po nandito ako. I’ll wait for her; pinapasundo po siya ni Mom," I lied. My mom wasn’t expecting her yet.
"Ay, ganon ba? Gusto mo bang pumasok muna? Baka malapit na 'yun. Sabi niya, aayusin niya lang ang schedule niya at uuwi din siya," he offered.
"Dito nalang po, antayin ko nalang siya, tapos aalis din po kami pagdating niya," I replied.
"Sige, halika. Maupo ka muna dito tayo," he said as he motioned for me to sit with him.
While we were chatting, I saw Jho and the guy approaching. I think she saw my car, and she was already sweating a lot.
Jhoana's POV
"Bilisan natin, Ysay!
Patay oo nga pala, lagot ako ne 'to.
