REVIEW

PLOT

The story revolves around a group of people from different backgrounds with overlapping stories. Everyone is fighting to make a living in this world full of corruption, hunger for power, and greed. And, in the middle of this chaos, things happen, making them worried for their current situation and to those problems which will follow later.

The action-packed trailer provided in the initial chapter of this work showcases the motifs, this story is going to reveal as proceeds further. Various movies and dramas clips have been brought together, giving the trailer an anticipating look.

And, the subtitles used to convey the approach of the characters in the story comes off very useful in understanding the situation.

PACING OF THE STORY

The story is written under the genre, Sci-fi, which without any doubts fits the story, as it involves IT. But, the fast-paced writing resonates more with the action-adventure genre. So, the book can fall in both Sci-fi, and action-adventure.

Additionally, though the writing style captures the settings effortlessly with its punching dialogues and narration, it can sometimes come off slightly off.

Especially, when world-building hits, and we have no prior idea of what it is? Why does this matter? What importance does it hold?

So, to get rid of this fluctuation, the author might consider elaborating their descriptions about the settings, the surroundings, the weapon, or any new thing readers are being introduced to at the moment.

GRAMMAR

Punctuation errors, space errors, awkward phrasing, run on paragraphs and run on sentences.

"They say, it takes only six seconds to die in the Mujan prison."

Prison and cell convey the same meaning.

"Five of them...". "One of them...".

Why are some letters written in bold?

"The bulb buzzes above me as if fighting for its existence—The only trait that seems common in us."

"Smiling, trying too hard to look natural."

There are abrupt switching of tenses throughout the book. Choose one tense, and stick to it.

Overall, there are not many errors, but enough to make the narration or the dialogues sound awkward, conveying otherwise meaning. Thus, consider a close proofreading to get rid of these technical errors.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

So far till part six, three characters, Tessa, Zeal, and Jet, happen to grab the limelight with occasional interactions of the other side characters.

Though, the girl who fits the chip behind Tessa's ear appears more mysterious and intriguing than any one of them, but let's talk about these three as of now.

Tessa Kite or Yoon jong-Ri, a young girl who is running away from her family, authoritative, and law in order to make a survival out anywhere. With her strong knowledge of technology and machines, she is able to get a required amount for her daily basis.

The twist happens, when a girl who first helps Tessa get out of the cell fits some kind of chip behind her ear, making Tesaa believe that now no one will chase after her since she will be living under a whole new identity.

But, as the time passes, things turn out a whole different from what that girl has told Tessa. And now, Tessa is struggling with her new reality and things that will follow ahead, while also trying to find a way out to get rid of all this chaos.

Zeal or Seiji Watanabe, and Jet or Jettra Yekaterina Bosconovitch, both are pit fighters, who fight against tech people and get money to fulfill their own requirements.

Zeal, whereas, is weighed down by his father's debts, Jet is collecting money for her family betterment. Both reflect pretty contrasting yet similar personalities, depending upon the mood.

Overall, these characters' personalities unfold slowly, and crucially depending on the scenes of the story.

However, if it's not intentional, the author might consider giving each character a distinct voice and body language, so that they all don't sound the same, like sassy, sarcastic, and robotic.

ORIGINALITY AND CREATIVITY

Though, it's not new to see a story featuring a dystopian world that is undesirable, frightening, or oppressive due to the environmental disasters, or totalitarian governments.

But, the themes that the author has considered in their story, exploring the dangers of advanced technology, loss of individual freedom, and the collapse of society—This is something new to read about.

OVERALL ENJOYMENT

The truth—this story is truly an enjoyable read with its action-packed scenes and punchy dialogues and descriptions. It just needs a little refining in terms of elaborating the world-building, and the things mentioned above.

However, it took three parts to fully understand what's going on there in their world. But, after the third part, things became more clear to me as a reader.

Yep! That's all.

The author can take things into account they think will work for their story, or just follow their own mind.

BEST OF LUCK!
