Chapter 35
Ally's Pov
"Alright," Mrs. Lacey announced, "This year, as year twelves, you will be stretched to your limits and put out of your comfort zone. Therefore I will be picking who you work with for the semester." I rolled my eyes and groaned. I don't like working with other people.
Mrs. Lacey called out the partners one by one, "... Belinda Weraree and Charles Spencer." She paused and pushed her glasses back up her nose bridge and read, "Alexandra Waldorf and Harry Styles." I sighed, this was not what I wanted. I like biology, and I didn't want it to be ruined by Harry.
I turned to face him. His green eyes almost had me in a trance again. "Your first assignment," Mrs. Lacey continued. Harry and I looked back at her at the same time. "Will be to disect a cows heart." Everyone got out of there seats and went to grab a lab coat. I pulled my phone from my pocket and quickly texted Mia:
Just my luck, Harry and I are lab partners in biology.
This will be interesting...
- Ally
As I put on my lab coat, I went to join Harry at a lab table. The heart, knives, gloves, scissors, newspaper, everything was there. My pocket vibrated and I tunred the other way from Harry and looked at the text:
Fate or what?
- Mia
"Ally, shouldn't we start cutting open the heart?" Harry asked, he hesitated before tapping me on the shoulder. "Yeah, just a sec." I replied.
I don't know, but being so close to him today, I can't say I still don't feel the same.
- Ally
I tied up my hair and put on the safety glasses that were on the table. I caught Harry staring at me. "What?" I asked. He shook his head, "Uh, nothing." He replied. His focus was now on the heart. I took the knife and started to slice. The meat was tender, very easy to cut. Harry then used the scissors to poke around inside where the main artery was. "What are we looking for?" He asked. "Just examining the insides." I replied. My phone buzzed and I couldn't help but say, "Hang on a minute."
So you still love him?
- Mia
I took a moment to reply. I looked back at Harry to see whether or not he was watching. To my surprise he was more engaged in the opened up cow heart.
Maybe .
- Ally
I turned back to the table, "Sorry." I said. "It's okay." He awkwardly replied. Things were going better than I thought, we had a conversation flowing. "The veins are really small." He said touching them with his hands, but ofcourse he was wearing gloves. "Yeah, and the tissues are quite strong." I further more examined inside. "Hi, Harry." A girl with strawberry blonde hair cooed. Harry waved and smiled to her. I felt a tinge bit jealous, and I guess I let it get to me. "What are you doing?" I asked. His eyes moved from the girl to me, "What?" He asked. "We're suppose to be looking inside the cows heart, not eyeing girls." I snapped. "Well excuse me, but who so happened to be texting while doing the disect in the first place?" I had to admit it, he got me there. I was furious, with myself and with Harry.
I took my gloves off, took my phone out of my lab coat and placed it on the table, I removed my glasses, pulled out the hair tie in my hair and said, "You know what? I don't feel like doing biology anymore." I walked off leaving Harry shocked.
Harry's Pov
I hit the table with my fist. At first I thought my fist made the phone shake, but then I looked over to it. Ally had forgotten her phone. A text from Mia was what caused the vibrations. I couldn't help but read the text:
Does Harry know?
- Mia
I knew it was wrong to pry on their conversation, but it was about me. I picked up the phone, knowing I shouldn't be and flicked through the messages. She had feelings for me? "Mr. Styles, where is Mrs. Waldorf?" The teacher asked. I quickly placed the phone in the pocket of my jeans and said off the top of my head, "Uh... she was feeling sick. I'll go get her." I walked off leaving Mrs. Lacey with nohting to say.
I saw Ally sitting on the edge of the school fountain. I approached her, not knowing what to say. So I said, "Sorry." She turned to face me, her cheeks were red, and the tip of her nose was red. She had been crying. When she didn't reply, I spoke again, "You still have feelings for me?" It came out more as a statement then question. "What?" She finally said. "You told Mia-" She suddenly leaned in closer, "You read my text messages?" She hissed. "No, I mean yes, I mean, I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have." I admitted. "Yeah, you shouldn't have." She looked the other way and wiped her nose.
"So?" I asked, un sure if I should have asked,
"So, what?" She replied,
"You still love me."
"I don't." She replied firmly,
"Well you said-"
"I said, MAYBE. It doesn't mean yes."
"And it doesn't mean no." I challanged her, but now wasn't the time, she was really upset.
"Do you want to know the truth?" She didn't let me answer, "I loved you Harry. You were the most important thing to me, and now... now I don't know what you are to me. We had something special, and you killed it, you ended it, without an explanation. As much as it hurt, I deserved an explanation. You broke my heart, the one I gave to you. What am I suppose to think, Harry?"
I felt bad. I felt bad because she was right, I had destroyed her, I had broken her bit by bit. "I did it because I cared for you enough to let you go, and the reason being is un discussible between us." I sighed, "I still love you."
She got up and shouted, "Don't you dare tell me you love me!" Before I knew it she shoved me into the cold water of the fountain. I resurfaced and watched her walk out of the school gates. The water made me shiver, but it made me realise that I love Alexandra Waldorf and I always will, but maybe it's time to move on.
