Miranda's pov
I push him off me. "Please baby, you don't have to be afraid of me anymore!" I shake my head. "I'm not afraid. I've been taking classes too." He looks confused. "Classes? Classes in what?" "Self defense." Now he looks shocked. "Why? Why would you need self defense classes?" "I am not answering that. I don't have to answer to you." "Come on babe, you have to forgive me by now!" "I've forgiven you Jason but that doesn't mean I'm going back to you. Now, if you'll excuse me." I walk off to my car. I can't believe I ran into him. He's still a sexy son of a gun. I still love him but I can't be with him. Too much pain and fear. And too much time has passed.
Jason's pov
She's long over me. I mean it's been three years but I have to know what happened to Jenny? I catch up to her. "Wait, I have a right to know what happened to our daughter!" She turns around, that same small smirk, the same brown hair and blue eyes. The only difference is the fear and anger in her eyes. "Nothing happened to her. She's been staying at my mom's." Is that because I got drunk that one time?! She gets in her car. Dang it!! I'm losing her again. That's when I see a guy in the car with her. "Are you uh dating again?" She gives me a look. "Yes. I don't have to explain this to you." She puts sunglasses on and they leave. It's so hard to see this happening. She left but she didn't leave without taking my heart with her.

"That was your ex?" I nod. I switch gears and go faster, leaving the heartbreak behind. My phone rings. I should've changed my number because I'm sure it's Jason. Sure enough when I look down it is. "What!?" I gripe. "I know we're not still dating but can we still be friends? I mean we're gonna run into each other often since my best friends are married to your best friends." "Jason, hold up. I'm not staying in town. I was in for a day. Only to see Rachel and Sierra. I haven't seen them in 3 years either." "What? You can't leave. You just got back!" "I am leaving. I never planned on staying." "Please stay." "No." "Ok fine, but keep my number, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here. I'll always be here." "Ok, I have to go. I'm driving." I hang up and throw my phone over my shoulder. Tim catches it. "Don't let him get under your skin." He says. "He's not." I drop him off and go to Rachel's house. "Hey, about to head out of town?" She asks. I nod. "Guess who I ran into?" "Jason?" "How'd you know?" "He's the only guy you can't stand but you're still in love with." She says. I glare at the floor. "I'm not still in love with him. I can't stand him." "Your mouth says hate but your eyes say love." Kurt says leaning against the wall. "Oh what do you guys know?!" I snap. "I know my best friend. And I miss seeing her everyday. You can't keep dunning from your problems." "Watch me." I mutter standing up. A few hours later, we're on our way back to my mom's house.
*later*
I was just drifting off when my phone buzzes. I squint in the light. A text from Jason. Dammit. I really need to get that number changed.
J: goodnight
M: go to sleep cowboy
J: lol. I thought u were already asleep.
M: I am now go to sleep.
J: then how are you texting me.
M: sleep texting
I have to admit it did make me laugh, our little phone convo. I set it down and try to go to sleep, Tim already asleep. My phone buzzes again.
J: I bet u still look as good naked as u did 3 years ago.
M: knock it off and go to bed or I will delete your number.
J: lol. K I'm going to bed. Plz don't delete me.
M: :) I won't.
Jason's pov
I crossed the line with the naked text. At least she said she wouldn't delete my number. I put my phone down and lay down staring at it. Ugh. I hate this. I can't sleep now. I grab my phone back.
J: u still awake?
M: Jason, you're pushing your luck
J: I can't help it. I can't sleep.
M: I'm not singing you a lullaby
I burst out laughing at that one. She's always been the funniest girl ever.
J: can we just talk?
M: no, I'm tired.
J: in the morning maybe?
M: maybe, now go to sleep cowboy.
I finally put the phone down and go to sleep.
*the next day*
I get out of the shower, the bathroom super steamy. I wipe off the mirror and shave my face as my phone buzzes. I run and grab it.
M: Jenny says hi
J: can she come visit?
M: are you sure your anger is in check?
J: absolutely positive.
M: I guess.
J: Thx
A few hours later, they arrive. I open the door and my 9 year old daughter runs in and hugs me. "Hey, sweetheart I missed ya." We go to the kitchen. "I uh made breakfast if ya want some." She's still scared of me. I wish she wasn't. I leisurely text her something funny. Her phone buzzes and she shoots daggers at me with a smile.
*a few hours later*
"Well, Jason you can keep Jenny for the weekend." She says. "What about you?" "I'm going back home with Tim." Damn him. "Or you could stay here. Keep an eye on me." "I don't need to. You've proven your anger is under control." I sigh. She doesn't get the hints. She waves and leaves.
