Jason's pov
We were all hanging out at Kurt and Rachel's house. But one thing has been bothering me since that scare in the hospital. When we thought her best friend, my wife, was about to die, Sierra didn't seem at all upset. That doesn't make much sense though. I have to find out. I find her sitting by the pool, her feet submerged. I squint against the sun and decide to do the same. "Hey Sierra, something I've been meaning to ask?" "Ask away Jay." She says, looking at the water. I'm trying to figure out how to word this. "When you were...." Damn, I'm terrible at this. "When we thought she was gonna die, you didn't seem like it even upset you. You just-" "Wait, are you talking about when I was about to pull the plug?" "Yeah." "Jason, I was in doctor mode. I turn off me emotions so I can get the job done. If I thought of her as the best friend she is to me, I'd never have been able to take care of her like I did." Whoa, I never thought of it like that. "Oh that makes much more sense." She smiles. I feel a tug on my foot. "What the?" I mutter, moving my leg and looking down. Miranda pulls me into the water. "Ha ha, very funny Missy." "Hey Jason, you're all wet." I laugh. "No shit." "It's a great day for a swim." She swims away and I swim after her, grabbing her around the waist. She laughs and turns around where I kiss her gladly.

Rachel's pov
I was working on dinner when Tully walked into the kitchen. I wave and smile. "Hey Rachel what's cookin' good lookin'?" He asks. I try not to show how much that bugs me. "I'm making chicken Alfredo." I say, through clenched teeth. He puts a hand on my shoulder. "Tully move your hand." I gripe, my fists clenched together. "Ok." He says, moving it to my ass. I swat his hand away. "No. Tully get out of the kitchen." He sighs. "Sorry Rachel." I nod and he leaves.
Jason's pov
"Hey daddy! Look at this!" Tommy shouts. We look back and he's waving Kurt's loaded pistol. My eyes get wide. Sam stands beside him. "Tommy don't move!" I cry. Everyone else looks at him terrified. To my looks at me confused. "Stay still. Don't move." I say, walking slowly to him. He stays stock still. "Gimme the gun son." I say, holding out my hand. He sets it in my hand. "Phew." Tully says. "Ya got that right." I mutter, taking a deep breath and pocketing the weapon. "Tommy you can't touch things like that. They're dangerous." Kurt says, walking over. Miranda sets Alex in the playpen. "The kids have learned nothing about guns have they?" I ask, rubbing my chin in thought. "No I don't think so." Kurt says. I smile and glance at the two youngsters. "I think it's about time for a lesson." I say, smiling. Kurt and Tully smile too. "Hey kids gather round." I call. Jenny, Sam, and Tommy run over to us. "I think it's time for your first firearm lesson." All three girls shout their protests. "No way!" Rachel cries. "My son is not coming near a gun!" She grabs Tommy's hand, pulling her away from the group. "But wait, if something like today happens again, don't you want him educated? We might not stop him in time." "He's five years old Jason! There is no way-" "Yes he is." Kurt says. Rachel stares at him shocked. "It's safer this way." He says, a hand on her shoulder. "I was his age when I learned to shoot a gun." I say. "Well you came from a softer generation!" Miranda says. "Softer my ass." I try not to laugh. "I was a hard headed dumbass, getting into everything. So my dad thought better safe than sorry. And rest his soul, he would want his granddaughter to know how to protect herself." "This is crazy! Someone's gonna get hurt!" Sierra yells. I smile. "Then thank goodness we have a doctor in the house, am I right boys?" I half joke. Tully pats my back. "Good one Jason." I nod. "Then let's get started kids." Kurt says, clapping his hands. The kids follow Kurt outside along with everyone else except Miranda. "I don't like this Jason. Something's gonna go wrong I just know it." She says, worriedly. "Baby girl, they're safe. We're professional gunslingers. Been shootin' since I could walk." I assure her. "You're a professional bullshitter too." She says, smirking. I laugh. "Be that as it may. I ain't bullshitting now." "You better not be. If something does happen-" "Yeah yeah, you'll tell me I told ya so." I cut her off rolling my eyes. I grab her around the waist. "Took the words right out of my mouth." She whispers, kissing me softly, her arms around my neck. "I've gotta get out there baby." I say, brushing her hair out of her face and kissing her again. I wave and go outside. She stays inside with Alex.
