Maya's POV
Prom was in a week and I really wanted him to ask me but I knew that was never gonna happen. I had broken up with him for a reason and if I even touched him one more time I might just melt there and then.
"Riley, do you think I should talk to him?" I asked.
"Maya, your going to different collleges on different sides of the country, I thought that's why you broke up with him." She replied.
"I know its just... I don't know why but..." I tried to explain.
"But even though your completely different, you still can't help but love him." She interjected.
"How is it that you know what I'm thinking before I even think it." I asked trying to figure it out.
"Its a gift, and besides the whole point of you saying you don't love him anymore was supposed to help him keep away, that way you don't give in. Leave it alone Maya, your just gonna hurt yourself more!" She persisted.
I knew she was right but I had this feeling inside when I saw him in the halls his eyes looked so sad that I just wanted to run over to him and tell him that I did loved him and it was never going to change. It felt like the more time I spent away from him the more I lost control of who I was.
The morning of the prom was even more depressing, I sat in Riley's lounge having my hair done and my mom was sitting with Topanga talking about how nice me and Riley looked but i didn't care, all I knew was that I was going to spend my whole night watching Lucas dance with girls that weren't me.
"Cheer up honey, you did the right thing, you'll see". My mother said stroking my hand to make me feel better. But it didn't all I could see was Lucas meeting some pretty girl and have a ranch in Texas with 2 kids, while I was stuck in a New York pent house wondering why it wasn't me. I realized that I had let the greatest guy in the universe go and it was too late to do anything about it.
Lucas POV
"I don't even see the point in going anymore." I sighed at farkle.
"Look your in the limo there's no going back now and Riley said that you should come."
"Why Maya's gonna be with Riley all night and Riley's obviously going to be with you, so I'll stay for a while and then I'm gonna go, ok?" I asked not looking for a reply.
"Fine but don't be so depressed." He whispered trying to be sensitive and brutal at the same time.
All I could do was stare at the door, waiting fot her to come in, I loved her so much that I just couldn't understand why she didn't feel the same. It just didn't make any sense.
I looked up and there she was her hair waved down her back which was almost covered by a red dress that floated down to the ground. I felt as though she had control of me and no matter what, I would never get rid of this aching because she liked someone else other than me.
I couldn't take it anymore and I turned around to look at the table of comfort food.
"Hello stranger!" I heard from beside me. I turned around to find Riley standing next to me.
"Hi." I said in a monotone voice. I didn't want her to know how much it hurt but somehow she already knew
"Look, I have to tell you something." She murmured.
"What is it?" I asked, Trying to understand why she was so hesitant to tell me.
"Look... Maya would kill me if she knew I was telling you but I have to... I've been trying to convince her and even me that she made the right choice but without you she's just not the same. You need each other." She said confusing me more.
"What are you talking about she likes someone else, she doesn't need me!" I insisted.
"Look at her." She raised her voice. I looked over at her she was standing by the punch drinking.
"Maya's drinking the punch? Does she know that it has alcohol in it?" I asked.
"Of course she does, is that the Maya you know who hates anyone drinking?" She said.
"No but..." I stopped. Something was wrong. Maya had never drunk in her life.
"She's drinking because she misses you! There was never any other guy, she loves you, she always has. She did it because she didn't want you to be distracted from baseball by worrying about her." She explained. I instantly dropped the plate of food in my hand and walked across the room towards Maya.
Mayas POV
I looked up from my drink (which was discusting , I couldn't understand why people drunk it if it tasted this awful) to see Lucas waking towards me. I wanted to run out of the room but I couldn't. I just froze in place.
"I haven't won a single game since we broke up." He said as soon as he got in front of me and without realizing it, our lips had met and I had melted away in the moment.
