Lucas' POV
The walls were white and I walked up and down them pacing waiting to see if they were going to be. I just wanted them to be ok.
"Mr. friar, do you want to see your daughter?" I looked up making sure she was talking to me.
"Yeah" I said still wondering if my whole world was gonna change I couldn't do this alone, not without her. I followed her into a ward full of healthy babies on the wall and bright colours that made the hospital seem a little less worse than what it was.
When I looked down, I felt my whole world shift like I had entered a different place, she was so small but little blonde hairs were starting to show (it was inevitable we are both blonde). She was wearing a small little hat which I made her head seem even smaller than what it was and I stared at her wanting to help but the wires and incubator were the things that were really helping. I put my hand through the incubator hatch. I stroked her little arm and she she moved, my heart skipped at beat when I knew she felt me with her, if only Maya could be here it would make everything so much better.
I walked back in the waiting room to find Riley pacing, when she saw me she hugged me
"What's going on? Are they ok?" She asked.
"The baby's beautiful, you should see her Riley, she's so tiny, but Maya's still in surgery, she lost so much blood." I felt myself starting to break down and suddenly a teared rolled down my face splashing into my shirt.
"She was fine when her waters broke this morning, how could this have happened. I promised her we were gonna be fine, I can't do this without her, she's my one person in life!" As I continued to cry, Riley took a deep breath trying not to cry herself
"Ok, stop crying, she always say's your the strongest person she knows and you need to stay strong, not just for yourself but for that little girl who's gonna rely on you and need you even if Maya's not there."
"Ok" I said and I did exactly what she did. When I had wiped the tears away from my face I saw the surgeon who was doing Maya's operation walking down the hallway, he looked emotionless which made me question what he was going to say. I didn't want to look at him I just wanted to go home with my wife and child knowing that they were ok.
"Mr. Friar" I heard him say but I didn't respond.
As he got closer I built up the courage to look at him.
"Your wife lost a lot of blood." This is where my breath left my body. I didn't want to hear anymore but he continued.
"However, she's stable and we predict she'll make a full recovery" he smiled at me and turned away
"Thank you" I shouted down the hallway and then turned to Riley and hugged her, we were all going to be ok.
