20 Years

Lucas' POV

"We have to go in!" I said walking towards the doors.

"Can we just go home and watch TV?!" She begged trying to stop me moving any further.

"No... Everyone's waiting for us, besides its our anniversary, we can't just leave." I explained.

"Fine, if we're staying I want at least 2 piece's of cake." She demanded and walked ahead of me as I opened the door.

"After 20 years of marriage here they are again, Mr. And Mrs. Friar!" They announced as we walked in smiling all the way to our seats. It sort of felt a bit like da javu because ebryrhing looked the same right down to the center pieces.

Maya's POV

Riley came sprinting up to me and pulled me tight.

"Awww... I'm so happy for you." She whispered.

"Me too." I whispered back and she giggled before letting go and jumping off to see someone else. Everyone we knew was there I couldn't believe how many people had come just to see us.

"Speeches." I heard someone yell as Riley clinked her glass.

"Now I won't make this long because Maya doesn't have a very long attention span." We had a little laugh before she continued.

"But I do want to thank you both because without you two, me and Farkle wouldn't have made it to our 15 years... Whenever we have an argument we always think about what you two would do and we figure it out, you too really are made for each other... So hears to my beautiful best friend and her still hunky husband even after all these years." She raised a glass and so did everyone else. Even after 20 years her speeches still made me cry.

Lucas' POV

Straight after Riley sat down little Riley stood up beside me

"I know we were trying to recreate the night if my parents wedding and we werent there but me and my brothers wrote a speech and I would love to read it to you all." She announced. I took her hand and nodded.

"Dear Mom and Dad,

We have been so fortunate to have parents who wake up in the morning ready face the day together and still say I love you when you go to bed. We've stayed up late in our beds and heard the way you sit on the sofa laughing and teasing each other about the day you've had. You have truly shown us how we should act in a relationship and what it should be like. So we want to thank the both of you and of course papy Joe's campfire for making our whole life happen."

My face felt wet and I was realizing I was crying in front of everyone and for the first time I didn't care at all. The whole room erupted in clapping as she sat down and I kissed her on the forhead before standing up myself.

"Wow, I don't know how I could ever follow that... but I would like to say something to my
wife." I announced to the room wiping away a tear as Maya went red.

"My wife has given me 20 great amazing years of marriage, that includes 3 kids, 2 dogs, 3 broken limbs and about a 1000 arguments but each and every moment has made up our life together and I wouldn't trade one of them arguments for anything else... So could we raise a glass to my lovely wife of 20 years, here's to another 20." I raised my glass along with every one else and cheered. When I sat down I felt a kiss on my cheek and I knew who it was from.

Maya's POV

After what he had said the rest rest of the night was a complete blur I spent most of it staring at him.

Later....

"Huckleberry, can I ask you a question about your first speech at the wedding?" I asked. Laying my legs on him as we sprawled out on the sofa.

"Ok!" He said looking a bit uneasy like I was setting him up for a trap.

"Did you mean it when you said you felt a pull towards me, even when you liked Riley?" I questioned him.

"You waited this long to ask me? Didn't I say that at our wedding." He giggled to himself like a little girl.

"Did you?" I held my position trying to be serious.

"Of course I meant it, you had this way of challenging me and you gave me all these new feelings that I couldn't understand. I liked it and after a while couldn't fight it anymore." He replied and yet again he had made me go gooey inside.
