Missy's POV

"I heard that you two kissed and that your an official couple." I heard Stephanie say to Maya and I went red I was so jealous that that butch had got him and I couldn't, what was I doing wrong.

"Oh my god, no we didn't kiss, of course we didn't as far as I'm concerned all 3 of us are friends." Maya whispered just loud enough that I could still hear them from the other side of the book case. This meant I could still get him and this time I wasn't going to take no for an answer.

Lucas' POV

I saw Missy coming up the hall and I just wanted to run away but I knew it was wrong so I waited for her to talk.

"Hey Lucas I'm going to the movies this weekend and I don't have anyone to go with, did you want to come?" She asked I didn't want to go but I had no excuse.

"Erghh well... I can't." The words just poured out of my mouth.

"Well why not?" She persisted.

"I'm... Well meeting my girlfriend." I answered thinking I had slithered out of that hole.

"Who's the girlfriend?"

"Maya!!" I panicked I didn't know what to do and that was only name I could think of.

"Ok, but she said like an hour ago that you weren't together."

"Well it happened like half an hour ago." I nervously chuckled hoping that I had gotten away with it.

"Oh ok then." She replied "bring her along too!"

"Yep sure?" The lies kept pouring out and now I had to convince Maya to fake date me just so I don't have to date Missy.

Riley's house...

"Maya?" I started to butter her up. "You know how smart and kind you are?"

"What Huckleberry?" She asked looking pretty annoyed.

"Will you pretend to be my girlfriend?"

"Why would I do that?" She exclaimed.

"Well I had to tell Missy that we were together so I didn't have to go out with her." I explained. "Please Maya I'll never ask you for anything ever again!"

"You had me at MISSY. Anything to annoy her." Maya cackled. "So what do we have to do?"

"Just be really close to each other when Missy's around, be like boyfriend and girlfriend." I explained.

"But neither of us have ever been in a relationship." She made sense, we had no idea what couples do.

"Well... Do what other couples do like put our arms round each other." I completely guessed.

"Ok but I don't have to kiss you, I mean your beautiful but your still a Huckleberry!" She giggled making me blush.

"No!" I replied getting redder each time I took a breath.

Maya's POV

For a whole week at school me and Lucas had been acting like a couple whenever we saw Missy and when we went to the movie theatre I thought we played it up well, but I couldn't tell if she was noticing until...

I walked into the school bathroom a day after the movie to find Missy standing by the sinks puckering her lips to put on lip gloss.

"So I guess you and Lucas are together." She grunted. "You know he was coming on to me the other day in the hallway."

Her stupidity made me giggle aloud.

"What are you laughing at?" She snarled.

"Missy why do you want Lucas so badly?" I asked her.

She put away her gloss, turned to me and smiled.

"You haven't even realised it yet, have you?" Her smiled turned into a smirk.

"Realised what?" I asked feeling more confused.

"Obviously you realised that you like him otherwise you wouldn't be together but I don't think you realise how much." She gloated. "I want him because one day your gonna realise that you and him were perfect but you were to late to realise it and by then I'll have him."

I couldn't understand what was going on I didn't even like Lucas so how would she know we were perfect together.

"What did I ever do to you?" I inquired.

"If you don't know I'm not gonna tell you." She moaned. "I'm going to get him Maya, just you wait."

She walked out leaving me baffled. I didn't like Lucas... Did I?

Lucas's POV

The week I had spent with Maya was so great she came to baseball practise to watch me, we went to art class together and she taught me how to paint. We stayed up talking about what could piss Missy off and eventually that turned into just talking, she had all these theories about life and I wanted to just keep hearing about them. The more I got to know Maya the more I liked her and I had decided that as soon as she came out of the bathroom I was going to tell her!

Maya's POV

"Hey Maya!" I heard Lucas call from behind me. I turned around to see him walking towards me smiling and I knew Missy was right.
