Maya's POV

"Look Lucas, all you do is flirt with Maya. I'm done with this relationship." Riley shouted. "We have to go back to being friends."

"But..." Lucas tried to explain but Riley interrupted.

"I don't want an explanation I just want to be friends?"

"Ok, we're friends." He replied and turned away before looking at me and then leaving.

I was so tired of this triangle that I just wanted it all to end Lucas couldn't decide and We weren't going to decide for him so, I made my own decision, I was going to stay away from Lucas at all costs. This way there would be no triangle and we could all go back to the way it used to be before TEXAS!! I was starting to wish I had never gone there.

Lucas' POV

I couldn't understand why Maya was being so distant. At first I thought maybe I smelt because she kept leaving whenever I came around but for the last 3 weeks she had been doing the same thing.

"Is everything ok with Maya?" I asked Riley as yet again Maya left when I got there.

"She said she was meeting Zay for some revision notes." she replied. I was probably being stupid but something didn't seem right.

Maya's POV

I couldn't tell Riley and Farkle about Lucas because they wouldn't understand but Zay just lets me talk to him, he judged in a way that was helpful.

"I had to leave again, he smelt so good." I moaned. "Why does his keep happening?"

"Errghh, I don't know." He sarcastically replied. "Maybe because you're in love with him."

"Not for long." I assured him. "The longer I stay away, the more I forget how wonderful he is."

"First of all who uses 'wonderful' to define someone... CORNEY!!." He groaned. "And secondly have you ever heard 'distance makes the heart grow fonder." He laughed.

Lucas' POV

I watched as she left again out the door. I was trying to pay attention to everyone else but I just couldn't not when I couldn't understand why she was always going to see Zay.

"Why don't you just tell her?" I heard a voice next to me. "As soon as you found out you had a chance with Maya I knew we'd never work, you two were meant to be." I turned around to see Riley sitting next me. The worst thing was Riley was right, I felt bad that I liked Maya but I couldn't help it.

"What do I do?" I asked her hoping she would have the answer.

"Go find out what's going on?" She replied. Without second guessing her I left but instead of calling Maya when I saw her on the street I followed her all the way to the beach where Zay was waiting for her. I couldn't hear a lot but I did hear her call him a Cowboy and that was it I couldn't control the anger. That was my name and best friend was stealing it, he was stealing her.

Maya's POV

"Did he smell too good again?" Zay teased me.

"No, this time I just needed to be with my friend." I replied feeing nostalgic. "Thanks for being there for me!"

"Thanks for me being there for you?" He shouted. "If it wasn't for you I would have Amy's number."

"Oh so she liked you being all Texas." I asked. "Every girl loves a cowboy and you Zay are a COWBOY!!"

"Hey." I heard someone yelling down the beach.

Lucas' POV

"Hey!" I screamed running up to Zay. "How could you do this to me?"

"What did I do to you?" He asked looking confused but still smiling like he always was.

"Maya... Aren't you seeing each other." I lowered my voice and looked at her, hoping she was going to say no.

"Hey first of all, if I wanted to go out with Zay I could." Maya assured me. "And second, me and Zay are friends and nothing more... Just leave me alone Lucas." She sighed.

"Really?" I questioned him.

"Really!!" He answered making me feel so much better.

"Look I'm gonna go. Zay Said making it more awkward and then leaving the situation.

I stood in silence for a moment and watched her as she faced the sea watching the waves roll in and out.

"Maya!" I said making sure she was still listening to me.

"Yeah?" She replied. She seemed calmer like she had calmed down a little.

"Me and Riley, me were never going to work!" I explained taking one step closer to her.

"Why?" She asked, still turning away from me but I knew but the time of her voice that she was curious.

"because as soon as Texas happened there was no triangle anymore, there was no Maya and Riley. There was just You." I replied putting my hand just close enough to hers so they touched.

"Argghh!!!" She screamed. "Why do you do this?"

"Do what?" I asked. At this point I knew I had failed.

"Why do you have to be so perfect!" She replied. She then turned around and put both her hands on my cheeks to pull me in, pushing out lips together. It all happened so fast that I never saw it coming, But I didn't mind the outcome.
