Lucas POV

It had been three days since Valentine's Day and I was preying that Farkle hadn't told her about they flowers because If she had found out that they were from me then it would've been awkward. Maya deserved better than me she was so creative and I was a bore all I could do was hit a ball around a field; she could make paper almost come to life. Besides with the past always going to be there It was easier if I just admired from a far.

"Hey Mrs. Friar!" I heard Maya say from the door down stairs. We had a project to work on and I was hoping that we could through it without her catching me staring at her.

"Come upstairs." I shouted, trying to quickly clean up my room.

"Hey." She said sitting down on my bed. "Should we get started." I kept trying to tell if she knew but it seemed like Farkle hadn't blabbed (yet)!

"Yeah." I replied. "So did you want to write it or did you want to research the information?" I asked her.

"The fact that your even asking me that really makes me worry about how well you know me." She teased taking the pen.

"What's the subject?" I asked her.

"What love is to you." She responded making the hairs stand up on my arms, I was going to have to talk about love to the girl that had no idea I liked her. "Go then." She gave me a worried look like I had gone insane.

"Errghh... Love?" I stuttered.

"Huckleberry, cmon." She moaned.

"Right... Love is special... Wait let me start again." I stopped making a stern look appear on her face before she ripped out the paper to start again.

"Love, love is that feeling..." I looked down. "When the hairs on your neck stand up, or when you get that aching feeling when their around but you know you can't touch them. It's knowing that that one person can affect you more than anyone else in the world." I stopped again and looked up to see her looking back at me differently this time, like she knew what I was talking about.

"Did you get it?" I asked her trying to snap out of what had just happened.

"Yeah, yeah." She whispered. "I'm just going to get a drink." She left the room leaving me with this sinking feeling.

Maya's POV

As I walked down his stairs I felt my breath coming back. That was the longest time that he had ever talked in our lives.

"Mrs. Friar, I was wondering if I could get a drink?"

"Sure darlin, what would ya like?" She asked.

"Maybe just a Coke!" I said sitting down on a chair attached to island in her kitchen. I looked over to see these beautiful pink roses, that looked a lot like mine, resting on her Window sill.

"Those roses are gorgeous." I gasped, acting like I had never seen anything like them before. "Where would I be able to get them from?"

"Oh Lucas bought them for me, he's so sweet, here I'll give you their phone number." She explained handing me a card with their name on it. "I don't want to embarrass him but as your his friend you probably know. He got another bunch for a girl at school and gave them to her as a secret admirer. Do you know who it is?" As she said them words everything clicked into place, he did like me after all this time, he still liked me.

"Errghh... No!" I replied. "Got to go." I took the Coke and sprinted back up the stairs stopping as I got to the hallway so I didn't give anything away.

"So huckleberry." I said getting his attention. "I don't think I got all of that speech you said, would you say it again?" I sat back down on the bed and smiled over at him, knowing he had always been mine.

Lucas' POV

I got up the next day feeling great, I got to spend four hours with Maya and I didn't get caught out.

KNOCK! KNOCK!!

I heard the door go but when I opened it no one was there. Just as I was going to shut it I looked down to see pink roses with a note attached:

'Dear Huckleberry, love the person you admire.'

And I knew right then and there that she was that person in this world that could affect me more than anyone else.

The next day in class when I saw her she smiled at me and it was like nothing had ever changed we were still Lucas and Maya; friends first.
