That Beautiful Smile

Lucas's POV

"Hey, huckleberry come help me with this suitcase!!" she yelled from across the room, her hair was neatly waved and somehow she looked great in an old, navy blue sweater and jeans.

"Hellooo, earth to huckleberry, come help me with this suitcase!!!!" I finally came through and grabbed the suitcase and dragged into the car.

"My pleasure Miss clutterbucket." I laughed but she just gave me a look that made me shiver inside. After all these years she still gave me the chills.

After we got into the now packed car, Riley and Maya looked at me to tell them what the plan was as usual.

"I'll drop you two off and then drive the other 32 miles, unless you need me to stay with you until you've unpacked."

"No it will be ok, we'll be fine won't we Maya." Riley said almost jumping up and down with excitement. I looked over at Maya who looked sad but excited at the same time.

"Yh, we'll be fine, promise." She said in a monatone voice. I couldn't tell if she was Ill or nervous about college.

We drove miles and miles until we got to their campus. The bags were out and it was time to say our goodbyes till the weekend. Riley came over, kissed me on the cheek and said

"I'm gonna miss all our little talks." She then hugged me and as she did i whispered

"Me too." Then she let go and ran skipping down the campus looking at her beautiful new home.

Then I looked over at Maya, her eyes seemed red and throbby

"Have you been crying?" I asked.

"No, obviously not Bucky."

"Tell me... are nervous about college?"

"No, I just... I just don't want you to be really fair away, you're my boyfriend, what about if you find someone who makes fun of you loads better than I do?" She exclaimed. I laughed to my self before saying

"First of all, I don't think I could ever find anyone who makes fun of me better than you do and secondly, I'm gonna be here every weekend with you, we're gonna be fine."

"Yeah probably." Continuing to look sad she hugged me and gave me a gentle kiss on the lips.

"You better go now, if you stay it will make it harder!" She said.

Once I had gotten into the car and was driving away from her, I rolled down the window and yelled

"I love you Maya clutter bucket!!!"
And there it was that beautiful smile that kept me going. As I got further away I heard a faint sentence from behind me.

"I love you too HUCKLEBERRY!"
