Chris Oct.8
"Hey GiGi!"
She waved happily at the camera with a big smile on her face. "What you doing?"
"Play!" I chuckled. I watched her playing around with some kids in the background. She was barely paying me any attention, but it was fine because I rather see her happy than crying like she normally would.
My Mom came back up on the screen.
"She looks happy." I fiddled with my fingers. "Yeah," my Mom said looking back at me. She turned back to me. "You don't look too good. How was your day?"
"It was fine. We took Karla and Zai out for a bit and got a bite to eat."
She shook her head.
"How are you ma?"
"Well," she started. "I'm not happy considering the fact that I can't see my son." She then started crying. I sighed. "Ma come on, please don't do this?" "What do you want me to do Chris? Be happy that me and your sister haven't seen you in months now? Your father has you running around the fucking streets like some-"
"Ma!"
She took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry. Chris, it's just been difficult without you being here, especially with your father having us going from house to house because of his stupid drug lord foolishness."
"Ma, GiGi and her friends are in the room." I sighed again. "Maybe I just called at a bad time. I'll talk to you later."
I hung up the video call.
When the app closed off of my screen and I looked at the collage I had as my wallpaper, I felt my heart cave in.
I threw my phone across the room.
Then I noticed J's Mom at the door.
I took a deep breath. "Hey."
"Hey Chris."
"How long were you standing there?" "Since you started talking to your Mom." "Oh."
"Chris, are you okay?" "Teresa, I don't know what I am."
"Let me guess; there's no reason to talk about it?"
I bit my lip. "I just want to be happy."
She gave me a hug & kissed my head. "Stop sitting up here and beat yourself up. Chris you have to keep fighting." I said nothing. "Come downstairs and make cookies with us. It'll make Kar happy."
A smile couldn't help but cross my face.
"Alright. I'll go."
Ray'vn
"Shawn where are we going?"
"You'll see." "Why can't you tell me?" He remained quiet. I sighed then started using my phone. He grabbed it from my hand and put it in his pocket. "What the hell Shawn?! I didn't do anything! Give me my phone!"
"No."
"Why?!"
"Because I said so Ray'vn."
"So what am I supposed to do until we get to where we're going?" He pressed a button on the radio; the DVD player sized screen changed from the station listings and went blank. He popped open the glove compartment then threw a bag filled with CD's on my lap.
