Jeremy
"I don't know J. I don't even know this side of town. She can't be that far."
I sighed.
I tried calling Ray'vn's cell again.
No answer.
"Fuck," I yelled hitting the steering wheel and throwing my phone.
"J, relax bro." "Don't tell me to relax. We brought her here to prove something, not lose her." He raised his hands as if he gave up. We drove around for another fifteen minutes.
We finally came upon a park about six blocks away from a local shopping center.
"J! That's probably her right there sitting on the playground."
I parked on a side street.
Chris and I took our time walking toward the playground so she wouldn't hear us coming. I relaxed some more when I realized it was her. Chris quietly climbed onto the playground behind her and settled himself next to her. I stood in front of her leaning on the pole. She didn't care that Chris was next to her; she continued crying.
"Now you see why we didn't tell you about Ray," Chris asked.
She sat there and said nothing.
I stood in front of her and held her hands.
"Look at me."
She pulled her hands away and turned herself in a different direction away from Chris and me.
Chris nodded his head for me to leave her alone. I held my hands up and walked off.
Chris
When J walked off, I didn't say anything.
He was just as frustrated as I was.
Every time I moved closer to her, she would move over.
I gave up and sat there.
I turned my body toward her back, my legs on either side. I raised my hands, running my fingers softly up and down her arms. When I did, she cried harder; this time she didn't move. I moved her hair to her right shoulder then rested my head in her neck.
It was at that moment she stood up, walking off the playground.
I stood up and followed behind.
"I'm tired of chasing you Ray'vn."
She stopped.
She turned around.
"Then don't," she said lightly.
I moved in front of her leaving no space between us. "You sure that's what you want," I asked smoothly, brushing my finger under her chin. She turned her head. She pushed me, attempting to walk away. I grabbed her hand and held her close, kissing her lips with passion. She pulled her body back just enough for her hand to connect with my face. "Why? Why Chris?! Why do you continue hurting me?"
"Ray'vn, I- you just don't understand."
"What is there to understand Chris?! Please tell me! You're telling me that when I should be the one telling you! You don't understand the extent of frustration, anger, and sadness I feel from watching Ray like that. All of this is because of me! Me, Chris! Don't you see that?!"
"Ray'vn relax, please?"
"Don't tell me to fucking relax Chris! It's just- this whole thing just- I'm a disgrace! How can I continue to live like this," she yelled between sobs and sniffles.
