Ray's P.O.V
"God Devon please put the gun down," Eve pleaded to him.
She walked closer to him, resting a hand on his chest. "Don't. How the hell can you stand there and have these two little ass boys run in here on me like that?!"
"Tell us what's going on with Ray'vn and we'll get out your way partna'," Rico assured him.
"Eve, get these two outta my sight before something goes wrong."
"Bust a move then partna'," Rico tested him pulling the clip back then re-aimed at him. "Jesus Rico, stop! I thought you were done with all that shit!" "Nah Evey. I can't. Not in a situation like this. I need to know what the hell's going on with Ray'vn and if it means going back to jail to find out I'm doing it."
Eve had tears in her eyes standing there seeming like she was gonna pass out. "Eve," I said to her. "Make him drop his gun, we'll pull down too. If you love your daughter as much as you say you do, you'll stop acting so dumb and hear this sneaky son of a bitch out."
"Right now isn't a time for games. We called Ray'vn earlier and said she was somewhere and had no clue of where. She wouldn't even tell us who she was with. All she did was cry and say she was scared." Eve stared at me blanky. Rico looked at her. "We asked what made her so scared, she couldn't say anything. Some man in the background said me then she hung up. Your daughter's in trouble Eve and you have to stop being so blind and see what's going on!"
She holds her head, mumbling to her self, backing into the counter. "No. No. No! God please?! Can you two just please drop the guns?" None of them budged.
"Ric," I gestured. "Let him fall first and I'll pull down." All of us looked at Devon. "Devon please," Eve begged.
He slowly put his gun back and Rico did the same. In my mind as I walked to Eve to comfort her, I prayed that none of them would slip up and shoot.
Thank God, Rico controlled himself.
We waited a few minutes for Eve to calm down. She stood up and said she was fine then walked to Devon.
"Devon what are the boys talking about? Who did you make Ray'vn leave with Devon?" He couldn't say a word. "Look Eve-" "No Devon please. Don't 'look Eve' me right now. Where the hell is my daughter?" "Eve I'm not going through this with you with these two here. We need to be alone." "Why? Why? What are you hiding Devon? They're not going anywhere because apparently if they never came to me, you probably wouldn't have told me anything."
"Eve, do you trust me?!" "Devon that's not the point!" "Do you trust me?!" "Yes!" "So why do you have to do this in front of these kids. This is grown folks business. I'm her stepfather and I told you I was watching her right?" "Yes Devon but-" "What the fuck?! But nothing Eve! Are you listening to me or not?!" "Devon I'm hearing you!" "So why the fuck do you need a further explanation?!" "Because-" Devon changed his frame, mounting over her as if he was about to hit her.
"Hold up," Rico said pulling his gun again after I pushed Devon back. "You were not about to hit her. Please don't tell me that's what you were gonna do."
"Rico stop," Eve pushed, nervousness in her voice. "I can handle this."
"Handle it Eve?! What if we would have left, God knows what this fool would've did to you."
"Eve baby, you're really eating this? You know I wouldn't hurt you." "Devon-"
"Eve," Rico yelled at her. "You really gonna let that fool control you like this?!" "Rico I'm gonna lose my mind. Please just stop." She sits around the table and rests her head crying.
