Ray'vn's P.O.V

Rustling.

I awoke to Zai rustling around in my right arm.

I tried to ease myself to sit up but I couldn't because Karla was still fast asleep on my left arm. It was completely numb from all her weight pressed against it.

Zai started crying so I had to get up. Karla sat up as I stood to my feet holding Zai in my right arm trying to get him to calm down. "Zaiii. Shh." He continued.

"I-I t-think him hungry," Karla sputtered.

"You want food Zai?" He rubbed his eyes, shaking his head. "Okay. Let's go get food." I kissed his fingers then held Karla's hand.

We walked into the kitchen and I stopped as I reached the refrigerator. I tried my absolute best not to look in the corner of where each side of the counter meets. Everything, the memories, kept flashing back and forth in my mind constantly. My blood went cold. "Sandwish please," Karla said bringing me away from my thoughts.

I looked at her and smiled.

I put Zai down in his high chair with some toys to keep him quiet. I felt like a mini mother like I usually would when I babysat my younger cousins. Before my Dad left......

Karla wanted to help but I told her it was okay. She simply walked her little behind back into the lounge.

I swear these kids are adorable.

After I gave Zai his snack, I struggled to make Karla's sandwich. The plates were up in the second shelf of the cabinet. I stretched to try and reach it but once again my height failed me.

I thought of using a chair but someone had already took it upon themself to get the plate for me. I looked up at Chris then began preparing the sandwich. He stood there as if I was supposed to say something. He was really starting to annoy me so I turned to the counter where you sat to eat. I was frightened to see Jere sitting there next to Zai. I looked at them both, back and forth, finished what I was doing, and called Karla for her snack. She said thank you then went into the living room to watch tv.

I headed for the lounge. Jere stood and walked in front of me. There was no trying to get past him to get there or the living room.

"Jere move." He stayed there, looking in my eyes like he was pleading to me.

Chris was the same.

Zai started getting fussy again so Jere took him out the kitchen and brought him to his crib in the living room.

I relaxed myself back into the lounge.

It was almost 4pm and I'm dying to fall asleep again but I can't. The house was quiet so I figured Karla & Zai went back to sleep but then I remembered Jere took them to their grandmother's house.

A few minutes past four, Jere and Chris came into the lounge. I didn't acknowledge their presence at all. I drowned myself into my phone. Jere took it from my hands and held it up. They were both really annoying me now.

"Jere give it back." Crickets. "Jere give it back!" Crickets. "Jere!" "No. Ray'vn stop being like that and talk to us."

"I have nothing to say to either of you. Give me my phone." "No."

I groaned. "Fuck it. It's whatever. Keep it." I sat by the window.
