Chapter 14: Trials! ;'(

*Ray'vn's P.O.V*  ( Sunday, August 12 ) 

I was surprised but still happy to see Rico. I haven't seen him since my parents divorced. "Rico!" I wrapped my arms around his neck and squeezed tight. 

He started laughing so I guess he did recognize me. "Haha. Hey Lele. You alright?" "Now that you're here...yeah." I was still crying in his ear a bit. 

I pulled away. "What are you doing here?" "I was visiting my friend and cousins plus searching for a house and new school with my Dad." I got excited that his Dad was here too. He's really cool. Him and my Dad are like brothers so I call him Uncle Zane. 

Our little moment got crushed when Devon grabbed my arm and threw me toward the table where we were sitting then went for Rico. The thing with Rico, he's really determined and is'nt really scared of anything or anyone. So Devon didn't come as a threat. 

In fact he stood tall ready to take Devon on. "Oh you think you tough huh? Well, I'm going to show you something." The very second Devon started going toward him there came Uncle Zane.

"You must feel pretty bold about yourself wanting to throw down with a 17 year old boy. Especially after hitting a girl? You might as well walk out of here while you still have even an ounce of your pride and manhood." 

"Who's going to make me?" Devon tried testing Zane but he's not really the violent type. Thou, he has no problem of throwing down if necessary. "Alright look here partna' I ain't come here to spend my lunchtime with my son dealing your big Tyrese wanna-be sceery ass."

"So therefore you need to tighten up your sack, calm your ass down, and close your mouth. I'm a d*ck and my hands are big but it won't be that hard for you swallow when I send it flying down your throat." 

The scared feeling I had inside was still rushing but Zane's rich Atlanta accent reminded me so much of T.I's. I couldn't help but laugh. Devon spun around. "You think this shit is funny!? Huh!!!?" 

I quickly shook my head saying no and backed up. Zane grasped onto his shoulders and dragged him  which sent Devon back into the rose bushes. By then Devon had become livid luckily the police had joined our beautiful altercation. 

"Woahh there big man fall back alright. What seems to be the problem here?" Words were a cent away from exiting my mouth to answer the officer's question but Rico had already beat me to it. "The guy right there got mad and hit her in her face." 

My eyes shot open and stomach turned. Both officers turned to me. I was frozen in place, my mouth to the floor, and fingers fidgeting. "Is this true?" I hesitated when I saw the infuriating anger raging in Devon's eyes. 

I swallowed deeply. "Y-y-yes but-" At that moment when the answer slipped out of my mouth I thought everything was all over. The third officer threw Devon on the table, wrestling him to get the handcuffs on. 

He started saying that dumb played out speech they always give and I just couldn't let things go down like this. "Please wait!!! No don't arrest him, it was just a mistake!" "I'm sorry we can't do that. It'd be against the law to-" 

"IDGAF about the damn law!! You can't take him!" "Young lady I'm sorry. There's noth-" "There is something you can do! Please.... Just please... Let him go. You can't take him." Surprisingly, I don't know if it was because of my emotional breakdown but they let Devon go. 

They talked to him and let him off with a warning. I stood there and watched it all go down. After they left Devon looked at Rico and Zane then slid pass them. I stared down at the floor but my eyes changed direction to meet his. "Let's go."
