Ray's P.O.V

Her line went silent.
Rico's eyes went wide. I froze staring between him and the phone. "Shorty?" "NeNe, what's wrong? What are you scared of?"
Her line was still quiet. There was rattling. Then out the silence pierced a strong deep voice...
"ME."
Then came the urgency of her goodbye.
"G-guys I have t-to go," she said quickly, the terror in her voice topped with a tsunami of tears.
Her line cut off.
Me and Rico's mood changed instantly. Mixed emotions filled both our bodies. We didn't know what to do or how to act.
I had to do something.
I got up quickly, unhooking the keys to the car from the loop of my jeans. Rico followed behind. We hopped in the car. Anger flushed my insides so when Rico asked what I was doing...
There was no time for answers.
