Chris

"Chrissy! Chrissy," I heard a little voice calling my name.

I picked my head and saw Karla bent down beside me.

"C-come g-get breakfast." She got up and ran out the room.

I sat up and turned to my bed to find Ray'vn gone. Her shoes were still under my chair, so I knew she was still here.

I dragged myself up out of bed and went to get cleaned up.

"Morning sleepy head." "Morning mama," I said to Jeremy's mother. "You okay? I haven't heard or seen you sleep in this late in a long time."

"It's still pretty early, but I'm okay."

I grabbed a plate from the counter and sat at the table. I looked around and didn't see Ray'vn anywhere. "Where's Ray'vn?"

Teresa pointed to the back patio. I sighed.

Moments later, my Dad came in and sat at the table. "Um Shawn, there's coffee here. There is orange juice in the fridge, but your plate's right here."

"Thank you," he said helping himself before sitting back down.

Jeremy and his Mom stayed at the counter eating their food while my Dad and I sat at separate ends of the table.

I was almost finished when Ray'vn walked in to thank Teresa. She didn't even notice me.

I stood up and put my plate on the counter.

"Ray'vn..." She looked at me then turned her back and slammed the patio door behind her when she stepped back outside.

Both my heart and my stomach caved in at the same time.

I looked at everybody staring at me and walked back to my room.

Ray'vn

I've been out on the patio staring up at the sky since I woke early this morning.

I did everything I could to forgot about last night.

I can't even dare to-

Ughhh!

I felt like I was losing my mind. Why the hell am I so fucking stupid?!

I tried my best to relax. I felt my phone vibrating. I thought it might have been Chris trying to call me, but instead it was Ray video calling me.

I accepted.

"Hey," I said, being the first to start the conversation.

"Hey. You okay? What are you doing?" "Oh. I uh-" I scrambled in my mind trying to figure out if I should tell Ray exactly where I was or not. The last thing I wanted was to get caught up in a lie.

"I'm at Chris and Jeremy's getaway house. Everyone's inside."

"Oh."

He didn't say anything.

"How are you there, but we can barely even go outside? What, you can see Chris but not me?"

"Ray, it's not like that. I-I wanted to see Chris and-"

"So you ask to go see Chris but said nothing about me?" "Ray, I asked but I didn't think I was really gonna come." He shook his head, his loose hair falling lightly over his shoulders.
