SKERT!

The car swerved at a red light as we raced off the highway, dodging cars of panicked drivers scared by the antic driving.

"J. Call Lenny and see where everyone is at. I can't hold these guys off for long. There's too many of them." J grabbed Devon's phone and began tapping keys. I was surprised by how calm he was, unlike Chris who was completely zoned out. He continued looking from the scenery that rushed by in the window and my eyes.

"Len said they made it. You ready?" "I don't know Bugs. I don't know."

I felt bad seeing the sad expression that suddenly appeared on J's face. His eyes were glued to Devon as he revved the engine, blazing through city streets. Out of nowhere, the car tires screeched as the car spun in circles. One of Nino's men pulled out of an alley, bullets flying like crazy. "Fuck," Devon yelled cutting across an open lot and through a parking lot. "Chris grab a gun and shoot!" Chris looked in my eyes. I stared back. He kissed my cheek. "Chris! Stop the bullshit and shoot!"

He grabbed an automatic, moved me off his lap, let the window down, and started shooting.

"Ray'vn grab a heat and get ready." The car took off racing up a hill. It was extremely dark especially because there was a bunch of trees around. The head lights beamed bright. We were rolling up toward a forrest.

The road started getting rocky. "We're getting closer. Chris check the bomb. Jeremy..." Devon paused. "Be careful and don't fail us." Chris made sure the bomb was good just as the car came to a stop. "Let's go!" J rushed out the passenger side and came to the back to get me. Devon ran off, disappearing behind a tree. I don't know where the hell Chris went. He was gone by time I could look at him once more.

I heard Nino's boys racing up the trail. I couldn't see anything. When Devon got out the car he turned the beams off. Jere held my hand as we rushed to hide behind a tree. We ducked down. My breathing patterns were unstable. I could feel the weight and formation of the gun wrapped between my fingers. I felt the tears in my eyes and lump in my throat. "J," I whispered. He sat himself down next to me and held my hand. "J, I can't do this." He sighed.
He kissed my hands. "Ray-"

The car racing up the hill came to a stop. You heard the rustle of the tires from the rest crumpling leaves and swerving to a stop. The high beams of the cars flipped on. Bullets came flying out of control.

J took hold of his gun leaning over to shoot. I gripped onto him tight and pulled him back down. "Jere. Stop. You don't have to do it." "Ray'vn-" Bullets began striking the ground closer to us. I screamed. I dropped the gun I had from my hands and pulled my knees to my chest. "J make it stop please?!" He stood up after the traffic of bullets cooled down. He slipped to a nearby tree and started shooting. I didn't know what was happening I sat there rocking back and forth, listening to the sound of bullets; the grunts and groans of men being shot, car doors slamming, men yelling...

My mind couldn't process. There was too much going on.

All of a sudden I heard the crumpling of leaves. It sounded too close to be coming from over by the cars. I grabbed the gun and started to panic as the bullets came flying by me once more. The crumpling became louder. I heard footsteps getting closer, coming at me too fast but I didn't know from where. The tears came down harder. I leaned to the side of the tree and still saw J there. "J! Someone's coming!" He swore under his breath, trying to focus around me and back at the scene. I kept looking around me to see if I could find anyone. Nothing. I heard a loud boom from behind us. One of the cars on the farther side from us went up in flames. I looked closer and could see bodies lying on the floor. My mind went blank as I was drawn into trying to see more of what was going on when someone grabbed my arm and pulled me back behind the tree.
