A few days later
Emma got out of her car. She was going to see her mother, well, until somone tapped her shoulder.
"Hey." Neal said.
"Hey." she simply replied. She did not feel like talking to him.
"So, I heard about the other day. What happened to you and that little girl." he told her.
"Yeah. Everything's fine now." she replied. "I have to go." she added and started walking away.
"Look, I think we need to talk." Neal said.
"What do you want to talk about?" she asked after she'd turn around.
"About us being parents and about Henry." he declared.
"I know you spend time with him and that he's the only reason you're still in this town. He likes you, that's what he told me, but I'm still keeping my distance and taking my precautions. You better not hurt him like you hurt me." she replied in a harsh tone. "There's a reason I never tried to tell you you had a son. I might have given him up before, but I was protecting him and keeping him away from you was a good move."
She walked away again, ready to get inside.
"And everything's fine with your high school crush?" he asked.
She got in the building and slammed the door. She climbed the stairs and knocked at the door of her mother's loft. Henry answered.
"Hi mom!"
"Hey, kid, what are you doing here?" she asked as she got inside and took off her coat.
"Came back from school with Mary Margaret," he explained. "and David."
"David's here too?" she asked.
"I am." he said, getting up from the couch.
"Oh, hi!" Emma said.
"Emma!" said Mary Margaret, coming down the stairs. "Did you buy the-"
"Cinnamon? Yeah." Emma told her. She took a little jar out of her bag and gave it to her mom.
"My savior." the teacher joked and quickly gave her a hug before going to the kitchen. "Cocoa for everyone?" she asked and of course, the whole family agreed.
A little while later, Henry was playing video games with David in the living room, while Emma was sitting in the kitchen with her mother. The blonde got her phone and texted Killiam.
Any update on Jefferson?
No, sorry love.
"Killian?" Mary Margaret asked.
"Jefferson Hatter case." she replied.
"Still haven't found him?" she asked.
"Nop." Emma said.
"Hey, want to help out with dinner?" she then asked.
"Sure. What is it?"
"Tacos." Mary Margaret said.
* * *
"Who was it?" Emma asked when Killian came back to the living room. She let out a yawn right after and he sat next to her.
"My mom." he replied. "She wants me to come visit."
"That's nice." she told him and let her head fall on his shoulder. "Is there something wrong? I mean... given the look on your face." she added.
"No, not at all. It's just... I haven't told my parents about you, but I thought maybe you'd like to come too." he said and she was surprised. The last time she saw his parents was a while ago and she ended things very quickly with everyone she had met at that time. "And maybe see Rose and Oliver. They still live next door." He glanced at her. "Okay, maybe I shouldn't have asked that."
"N-no, it's okay. I just don't know if I-I should go. I don't think it's a good idea."
"I'm sure they would be very happy to see you again." Killian said.
"I'll think about it." she declared and grabbed the remote to start the movie again. She sighed and he gave her a kiss at the top of her head.
"Whatever you choose it's alright." he whispered.
Hours later, they both were half asleep on the couch, when Killian's phone vibrated. He jumped as he felt it and then grabbed to see the message.
"What is it?" Emma asked.
"They found Jefferson's car, but not the man. I guess he's back in Boston, or farther." Killian said.
"Well, it's a little something." she told him.
"Yeah. Come on, let's go upstairs."
Grabbing her hand, he got up and they both climbed the stairs to get to the bedroom. Finally in the bed, Emma thought she would sleep, but her thoughts would go to the madman, Jefferson, to made up scenarios of being reunited with Rose and Oliver.
