There was just something about coffee shops Maine always find herself being drawn into.

Something about the ambiance, or the tranquility it sends off that Maine always considered homey. Call it cliché, but the smell of freshly brewed coffee, together with soft sounds of jazz music while being basked in warm sunlight gives her the comfort the outside world could never seem to offer her.

Often accompanied with her worn journal or a classic novel with pages that had been flipped one too many times, she would sit at her usual spot—four tables away from the door, beside the glass window, just the way she likes it.

But today was different. It was a rainy afternoon, matching Maine's gloomy mood. Her clothes were damped, along with her hair, which was tied into a messy bun.

In her hands was a cup of black coffee, which she has a firm grip on, the hotness bringing her freezing state warmth. It's funny, she didn't even like black coffee but she didn't have the emotions to even care.

She just sulked there, clad in her rain stricken clothes and not a book or a journal in sight.

She has her earphones firmly in her ears, the sweet sound of Coldplay helping her block out any noise from the outside scenario—just her in her own little bubble, tucked away from the chaos that is her life.

It was starting to get quite chilly inside, the effect of the airconditioning finally settling her in. She ought to reach out a spare shirt from her bag, that basically contained all her clothes and other important stuff, when she felt another presence standing infront of her.

She looked up, expecting to see a waiter complaining the droplets of water she was creating, but Maine was taken aback when she was met with the most gorgeous man she had ever laid her eyes on.

Okay, maybe she was exaggerating a little but one simply cannot deny that the man infront her—tall, lean, fair skinned, toned biceps and oh my god is that a dimple—isn't drool worthy.

She hadn't noticed she was staring until the guy was already waving his hand at her face. Realizing that he was trying to talk to her, Maine sheepishly removed her earphones as she turned to look at him again with a dumbfounded look on her face.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I said, um...If you wanted to, I mean... I noticed you're all wet and I, uh wondered if you maybe wanted a jacket 'cause it's freezing inside and—" He was nervous, she could tell.

He was stuttering as he gripped the life out of the ends of his jacket. His feet were turned up in a weird way Maine recognizes as she often do this habit whenever she talks to new people.

She found him cute.

"I didn't realize you were listening to something. I, uh...Yeah." His tone was gradually getting lower, almost as if the confidence when he approached her earlier was now replaced with anxiety and discomfort.

"It's okay. I'm alright, I mean I have a spare shirt with me." She said, pointing at the shirt that she just got out from her bag. She saw the guy mouth a quick oh as he gave her a small nod before walking way.

"Actually—" She called out suddenly, clearly surprising the guy when he turned to her, as well as herself.

"Um, can you watch my stuff for me? I was about to change in the restroom." She added a hopeful smile. "Only if you don't mind, though." She quickly added.
