"So, what ever happened to your car?" He asked after a while, curious as to what happened after her story.
He saw as Maine's eyes widened in realization, she herself probably have no idea what happened to her car. She slapped her forehead while she groaned at her stupidity. She quickly rummaged through her purse to find her phone but quickly remembered that it was still dead.
"Um, can I use your phone? My phone's still dead and I left my power bank at my car." She timidly asked him. At this point, she was already super embarrassed to ask because he'd been so nice to her all the night and she was worried he might think she was abusing him.
That's right, Maine. Show this man how much of a mess your life is, you loser.
"Yeah, of course. Hey, I have a spare power bank with me, if you want? My sister must've left it hers in when she borrowed my bag."
Maine wanted to kiss him right then and there. She was convinced this man infront of her was an angel sent from the heavens above.
"Oh my god, I love you." She was literally on the verge of crying. RJ chuckled at her while he took handed her the power bank.
"You are a life saver! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She jumped out of her seat and lunged herself at him, giving him a hug.
RJ was surprised but it didn't take a minute for him to ease into her arms. Maine must've realize she's been hugging him too long and she quickly let go of her embrace. She heard him cough as she came face to face at him. He wore an ear splitting grin, like he just won the lottery, and she couldn't help but to smile herself.
She then excused herself to make the phone call but not before thanking him again. RJ waved her off, telling her that it was fine and that she could stop thanking now. He watched as she turned her back on him as she made her way outside.
She came back 15 minutes later, looking relieved.
"They told me they already towed my truck and I called my best friend to come pick it up for me in the morning."
"That's good to hear." He said as she hand him his phone back.
"Hey, thanks. It really means a lot."
"Don't worry about it." He waved her off. She nodded as she took a sip from her cup as the silence took over them. She noticed that it stopped raining, although she could still point out a few tiny drops falling. She looked at the time and surprisingly it was still early. I could still make it, she thought.
"So, you're into photography?" He asked, trying to make conversation. He can't believe he'd only just noticed the Nikon camera that was hanging loosely round her neck.
"I mean, I'm no expert. I guess I like to appreciate the pretty things, you know?"
"Can I?"
"Sure." She shrugged as she took off her camera and handed it to him who looked at it in fascination.
He held on to it, grasping its feel while Maine watches him intently. He positioned the camera up to his face, looking at her through the lens.
"What are you doing?" She asked with alarmed eyes once she saw him pointing the camera at her.
"Appreciating the pretty things." He shrugged. His eyes were focused on the subject before him while he tries to take a perfect shot, then click!
"How smooth." She rolled her eyes, despite the somersaults the butterflies in her stomach were doing. The picture started to come up and RJ took it, looking confused as to why the picture didn't show up.
