Virginie's Point Of View

November 17th

Life went on as it was before and Matt and I didn't see each other a lot. But for the both of us, today is a big day. He gets to wrap up the show he is a part of and I have a meeting with Jake and his father. Mr. Goodman is coming down from Manchester where he directs and produces his movie. Now that he is done with his TV show, he started building up the locations of the first scenes he'll shoot. It's supposed to be very good. So it's a huge honour to have him travelling down to London to meet his son and I. He could have been meeting only his son, but he specified that he wanted me there as well. What an honour!

I was nervous to head to lunch with them. Jake and I were both working on a case that morning and we closed it right before. It started well the day. We were very proud. So Jake took me to lunch where he usually heads everyday, waiting for his father to join us.

"I am very happy we are finally over the case. It has been on my desk for two weeks now. It was about time it came to an end. What about we celebrate? Would you like a drink?" He asks me, very happy, smiling from genuine joy like I've never seen before.

"But we are heading back to work after..."

"What about getting the afternoon off?"

"Really?" I frown and smile at his offer.

"Yes! So join me for a drink." He imperatively asks and lifts his arm to call the waiter.

I don't argue. I feel very special that he brought me here with him. I always feel so left out eating alone on the roof. And at this time of year, it's really cold and windy up there. So I'll enjoy this moment, but I don't want to drink too much, to not make a bad impression on his father. I respect his talent so much, I don't want to make a bad impression.

We order a drink and then another one and I honestly see a good funny side of Jake. He isn't being an arse.

"Thank you so much for inviting me. I'm very happy to be worth your daily visit to this restaurant."

"Well, it was my father's idea."

"Wow, Jake. Thanks. For a second, I was actually happy you weren't being a total jerk today." I let out, very disappointed in him and the good side I saw earlier.

"I didn't say I didn't want you here... In fact, I'd want you anywhere. Particularly, I'd want you in my bed, but I guess my office would be nice too." He smirks and by the death glare I give him, he smiles brighter, visibly amused, he lifts both of his hands and backs off.

I take my mojito and empty it as I keep my eyes looking right into his. I sign the waiter to bring me another and rest my elbows on the table, resting my head on my fists. What is his deal? I want to get to the bottom of this.

"Why do you want me?" I ask and it surprises him a lot, but he looks down a moment to gaze back at me with the most charming smirk.

"Are you giving in to my charm, Darling?"

"No. I just want to know why you are doing this when you can literally have anyone you want."

"Maybe it's about the chase." He flirts with me. I think I shouldn't have stepped into his game. He is allowing himself to flirt more heavily now. Oh no! I've turned on the flirting beast inside of him.

"Doesn't it suck that it won't ever give you what you want?"

"Well, I got a taste of something I liked. There's no way I'm turning back now." He giggles, so proud of himself.
