"Hurry up, Lily." Harry knocks at his daughter's door with a sigh. She has been taking all afternoon to get ready. "Mummy wants to take a family picture before grandpa and grandma arrive."
"They are always late anyway..." She whines from the other side of the door. Her voice reeking of pure teenage attitude.
"Lily! Come on. I'm sure you look beautiful." He insists and shift his weight on his other foot, half leaning on the door frame.
"I don't know what to wear... I have nothing special." She says with a hint of defeat in her voice, something that makes her father feel deeply for her.
"I'm coming in."
Harry opens the door and sees his little girl, not so little anymore. Her brown hair has grown very long which waves beautifully on her shoulder to rest on her chest. Her face shows a slight work of make up. She is effortlessly gorgeous, but her face is showing a striking worry. She is nervous.
Harry walks to the bed and looks at both of the outfits she has laid on her bed. He frowns. They both look very elegant, but he was expecting her to wear something else, something more special.
"What about the dress I bought you when we went shopping last week?" He looks at her with a pout.
"I wanted to keep this dress for New Year's Eve." She pouts in return, a gorgeous replica of her dad's.
"We don't party with the same people, Princess. You can wear it to both." Harry smiles, smirking to himself because he has had the same conversation with his wife weeks before.
"I can't do that. You don't understand."
Harry smirks even wider to his daughter's remark. He knows exactly why she wants to be so dressed up for New Year's. He finds it adorable.
"Of course you can. I do it all the time. Besides, we don't care what you wear, it's your presence that matters."
Lily rolls her eyes, exactly like her mum, and walks to her closet to take out the dress Harry was talking about. He smiles to see her oblige and resolve her afternoon long dilemma.
"I'll let you change."
Harry gets up to leave her some privacy and report back to his wife. He knows he has always had a better relationship with his daughter than Gynie had. And now with puberty and her new attitude, Gynie has found it difficult to connect with her daughter. Sadly for her.
"We better go shopping again together before New Year's." She narrows her eyes at her father with a smirk which he returns her the very same.
"Of course. I'd love that." Harry responds to her with a wide smile, being very happy to spend some more quality time with his darling daughter which has shown to be very rebellious in the last few months. So an easy agreement is all he needs.
"OK, Pa, now get out, you are becoming too freaking cheesy. I need to change." She lets out with arrogance and it's Harry's time to roll his eyes.
Gynie's Point of View
I hear Harry climb down the stairs as I am checking the turkey in the oven. It's ready. Should I turn off the oven or let it heat at a lesser temperature? My parents plane landed two hour ago. They should be here soon. But how soon? Anne should already be here. Gemma and Mike will arrive after dinner since they are spending the day at his parents. They won't be here before 9PM. So what do I do about the turkey?
