Stephane's Point Of View

December 8th

Virginie and Harry are sitting on the living room floor and they have been constantly laughing.  Never in my life would I have thought that my daughter's laugh would inspire me anger.

She asked me to stop at Walmart on our way back home.  They both came back with large bags full of toys.  I don't know what for, but they are wrapping them up on the floor surrounded by a mess of paper and tape.

I'm making coffee in the kitchen which has a view on the room.  I can't stop looking at him, reminiscing the hate I have from the memories of my lifeless daughter sleeping all day and not eating, until Nadyne catches me stare, again.

"Stop it!"  She warns me as she takes four mugs out and puts them in front of us on the counter as we look at them.

"He has his arms full of tattoos..."  I look at his arms since he took off his sweater a few minutes ago.

"What were you expecting, Stephane?  You've seen him before on album covers and in interviews."  She whispers with authority to me.

"Yeah, but I have never seen him in my living room before."

"Stop acting like that!"

"Why are you acting like it's no big deal?  Your daughter brought another man than her boyfriend with her to meet us."

"Don't read too much into this.  Don't you trust her?  She is here with us and you should be glad she is happy and she reconciled with him."

"He broke her heart.  She didn't speak to us for days.  She stayed in her room all day sleeping and crying and she didn't even want to eat anything else than ice cream.  Do I need to remember you that?"  I can't help, but to let out on a more furious tone.

"Of course not, but he is important to her and you must respect that!  And have you seen the way he looks at her?"  She says and we both look at them.

Nini throws a ball of paper at him and he smirks widely, clearly amused, and grabs her ankles to slide her closer to him.  Her laugh echoes through the room as she rests her hands on his chest and he puts his over them.  He gazes so romantically into her eyes that it's making me boil inside.

"Exactly!  He is up to no good.  He can't be breaking her heart again.  She is happy with Matt!"

"Did she told you that?"

"No..."  I concede.  "But it was undeniable the last time we chatted."

"And that was a long time ago.  We don't know what she has been through or what her life is like.  Stop judging her.  It's our daughter.  We did our best to raise her, now, let her make her own choices."

"But I can't help but think she might be cheating on Matt with him...  And I can't stand it.  I did not raise my daughter to break trusts and be a liar.  Most of all, I love Matt, I don't want to him to be blindsided and hurt like she was."

"What makes you think she is cheating on him?"

"You are right..."

"Thank you!"

"I'm going to talk to her right now!"  I let out and head to the living room to take my daughter apart to get to the bottom of all of this.  "Virginie?  Come with me now."

She furtively steps away from the young man and stands up, frowning to me.  My tone wasn't very friendly, I get she is on the fence and so must she.  What she is doing with this... celebrity, it isn't right.
