AN: I don't know if you liked the song suggestions in the last chapter, but for this chapter it's the song that inspired me to write it through Gynie's Dad's point of view.  It's one of our favourite song, to Dad and I, from one of our favourite movies, Love Actually.

Stephane's Point Of View

December 8th

I think it was harder when Virginie left for London the first time. All of our routines were off and we had to find a way to not be bothered by her absence. We missed her very much. Everything at home was duller as she was always one to play music in every room she was in, always smiling, laughing and dancing. We somehow got used to her absence and made it easier when she left this time around. But what was harder, though, was not knowing when she would be coming back. She left in the beginning of August not knowing when she was going to come back if she would be coming back at all.

Nadyne, her mom, is the one that is the most affected by her stay overseas. The thought of not celebrating Christmas together as a family for the first time is really hard on her. I won't admit it out loud, but it's hard on me too. I miss her, my little daughter, my creative and talented writer, my adventurous traveler. She is my daughter and she means the world to me.

She called a lot at first. I guess she got caught up in her life with her darling Matt to think of us and call us. I got my Skype always ready for when she calls, I'm not even turning off my phone in case she wants to call at night. She got a job in the business and we were so proud of her, but after her birthday, she got so busy we never called each other.

Last week was the first time we heard of her in months. We were so exited. Elizabeth, her sister, was sad she missed the call while she was out, but Nadyne, yet again, was the one the most affected. She couldn't believe she was coming home. Nini seemed so happy, I can't wait to hear about all of her adventures and what her life has been like. I love her so much and I'm so proud of her. She is following her dreams and living life fully.

Having her call to tell us she would be coming home this morning drove the house crazy happy. Nadyne rushed to clean everything and I was glad we set up the decorations a few days ago. Virginie will be so happy. I know it's her favourite time of the year. I hope the house will still feel like home to her after having settled down in the exciting city that is London. Is it snowing as it is snowing here? Will she hate going back to our country side instead of living in a never sleeping city?

It's so different being without her this time. She has a life elsewhere, with people she knows, somewhere she is happy. She isn't in a foreign environment like she was the first time. What wouldn't she do for a man she loves?

I know my daughter is a passionate little girl and I'm happy helping her chasing her dreams. Studying in London was one of them. I was so proud of her. It's sad we didn't get to hear everything she did and the adventures she was on. The only thing we know is what Liam and Matt told us. I'll admit, even though we met through Skype and the wreck my daughter was into, I have trouble thinking Harry was real. I can't deny I was surprised by Liam's visit, because it was unexpected and it was the first concrete proof of Harry, the famous singer of the boyband she loves so much.

I love my little girl, but it just seemed too good to be true. I'm just glad she found someone like Matt to love her. It was the greatest gift to see her finally happy after all the pain she felt when she got back. I loved him from the very first shake of hands. He is just so genuine. He is very classy and polite. He is the complete opposite of my daughter. I like it. He is balancing her perfectly. She is very emotional and he is mostly rational. They grow on each other. Like they say, opposites attract.
