Virginie's Point Of View
November 25th
The road to Manchester went well. Jake and I talked all the way and we are actually going out to dinner to discuss further about us. I have been really having a fun time getting to know him.
Of course, it was very awkward when he told me the story about his father and his fiancée. It's something I never thought he would have done. He told me he was engaged at twenty-one with the girl living next door to his mother's house. They met when he was thirteen when his Mom moved out of his Dad's house after the divorce. He saw her every summer when he would come back from boarding school. He described her as being small, gentle and very naive. She was the breath of fresh air he needed in his life. They loved each other deeply and couldn't wait for all these years in school to be over to finally move in together. I couldn't get it more.
They finally did and they got engaged at twenty-one, but they didn't have a job or money, so he reached out to his father for money and he loaned it with the condition of working for him. Jake is still under contract with his father and even if he walked in on his fiancée and his father having sex, he still has to work for him.
He explained it all to me and it didn't even happen to me and I was pissed. He told me he found out they were having an affair and it didn't even last. So, all of this happened for nothing. That's why Jake is guarded now and ever since for the past three years. It's really sad.
Once we were in Manchester, we got to our hotel and we headed straight to dinner. I got changed and dressed up a bit before joining him at his door. He drove us at the nicest restaurant around and we got to talk more.
"If your Dad didn't force you into this job, what would you have done instead?" I ask him as I tear myself a piece of bread and butter it up.
"At the time, I wanted to be an architect. But now, I just don't want to deal with movies or music or anything. I always loved drawing, so with the money I gained from working for my Dad at Syco, I think when my contract is over, I will try to live from my art." He says as I discover him all over again. He isn't at all what he seemed to be.
"Wow! What do you do?" I curiously ask.
"Portraits are kind of my thing." He says and I get very impressed by everything.
"I'm so happy you opened up to me. I really thought, since I started working for you, that you were a self-absorbed sex addict." I let out and it gets him laughing.
"Well, I never care for anyone. You can understand why I don't make efforts in my work or my relationships other than a few ladies here and there. When you've been caring about others for so long, you kind of want to do what you want for once. Sex is one of those things. You were right when you were saying that I'm not happy and sleeping around, getting good sex is what comes the closer of being happy."
"I'm sorry about that."
"Don't be. It's not your fault." He smirks at me and then becomes very serious as I push my plate farther away from me and empty my glass of wine. "Are you done?"
"Yes, I'm full. It was delicious thank you." I thank him, gathering my stuff to follow him out once he has paid.
We walk to his car and make our way back to the hotel. We had a big day, it must be pretty late. I make my way to my room and he gently escorts me there.
"Have a good night." He wishes me.
"Jake?" I let out before he turns around to his room. "Do you want to do something tomorrow?"
