'Come to bed, Althea,' Marck called softly, trying not to wake Jedi.
'What about Verity? How could we leave her?'
'We had to Althea,' Marck padded across the dirt floor of the single roomed shack, joining his wife by the open door. 'We couldn't keep her. She'd be dead now if we had.'
'I know,' she hung her head, fighting back tears.
'Come to sleep,' he reiterated. 'Jedi needs you to be strong.'
'Okay,' she turned, allowing him to lead her to their bed of soft leaves, a blanket resting on top of them.
