Instead of waiting for the larger force to come to them, Liat and Zan moved their force towards the others, the element of surprise raising the odds of victory higher than they were.
By midmorning, half of the group was gathered about ten minutes away from the force's unfortified camp.
The other half was gathered towards the other side of the camp in order to sandwich the army and confuse them for a few precious minutes of vulnerability.
Liat's group began to advance, coming in sight of the army camp.
As they attacked, the unprepared warriors fell with little resistance.
Liat knew that Zan's group would have a far more difficult task, as she and her company had alerted the camp to an attack.
