Liat's hand was shaking as she held the bow.
Then she let the arrow fly.
Quinn fell and lay motionless.
Jedi fell beside him.
They remained among the fallen leaves.
Liat dropped her bow then ran up to the two of them, shoving Quinn aside and holding Jedi's head in her lap.
'Don't leave me,' she whispered, pleading.
'Zan, Twin Forks,' Jedi managed to mutter in return. 'He's waiting.'
His eyes closed.
'I love you,' he whispered.
Then he lay, motionless, his brown eyes glassy and empty.
