Liat looked taken aback at the abrupt question.
'I just do,' she said simply.
'That's what you told me before. It's not enough,' Jedi answered a little impatiently.
'I-' she began. Do I tell him?
'You can tell me. You say you trust me. So why won't you tell me?' Jedi raised one eyebrow.
'I think – I think I can see the future, and maybe even change it sometimes.'
'You-' Jedi began, but was interrupted.
'I saw myself dying in battle, so I left the village before I joined the march of warriors to the battlefield. I was never even there, so I never died. I changed the future I'd seen.'
'That doesn't explain why you trusted me.'
'When I was captive in the Circle, I saw you coming in to save me a few days before you were even there. It made me feels safer, less alone, less vulnerable.'
Liat fell silent, and Jedi couldn't think of anything to say.
'Why do you think I can see the future?' Liat asked suddenly.
