Liat jerked awake, breathing heavily, her body covered in sweat.
In her dream, she'd seen herself fighting in the war with the Clan.
She'd seen a Bandsman stab her.
She'd watched herself go down, unable to do anything to stop it.
She'd observed the physicians race out to retrieve her.
She'd viewed her burial.
She knew she'd become one of the Lost.
She would die in battle.
Soon.
Liat knew she had to get out of the Rogue village.
Now.
Or she'd never have the chance to find her parents, her family, and demand the truth.
She rose, dressed, packed a bag of clothes, grabbed her bow and quiver of arrows off the wall and walked out of her cabin, pressing her back to the wall to maintain an element of stealth.
She could, under no circumstances, be caught.
Liat managed to skirt the camp of the Rogues, gathering food and water from the kitchen before leaving.
With one last look at the village she'd called home, she headed into the darkness of the trees.
