Liat was looking for Zan in the aftermath.
Just then, Emerson came up to her, tears shining in his eyes. He simply grabbed her hand and led her to where Zan lay.
He was dying.
He had sustained many injuries.
Liat dropped to his side, Emerson kneeling on the other.
'I love you both,' Zan whispered. 'Take care of each other.'
Then his eyes closed.
He had a small smile on his face.
He was dead.
